Chapter-15:
Who would you steal for?

Pov Lloyd:
Finally, we arrive in Stiix. I park The Destiny’s Bounty, and LittleDina and LittleDuck follow me as I lead them to Ronin's Pawn shop. When we arrive to the building, I knocked on the door.
“Who is it?” Asks Ronin on the other side of the door.

When all of us stay silent, we hear a sigh from the other side of the door. Seconds later, we hear the door opening.
“Oh, it’s you. No ninja this time, Lloyd? I’m surprised, normally you don’t come alone.” Says Ronin.
“Ahem!” Interrupts LittleDina.
“Oh, my mistake. Looks like you weren’t brave enough to see me alone after all.” Says Ronin sarcastically, shrugging.
“Let’s cut to the chase, Ronin. Where’s the tea?” I say, my hands clenching as a response.
“Look I didn’t mean to send the princess into another realm. That one is all on you.” Says Ronin, pointing at me for emphasis.

Ronin takes a step back, possibly because he noticed I wasn’t too happy with his response.
“Tell ya what! I’ll sell it to you for 300.” Offers Ronin.

Pov LittleDina:
LittleDuck and I watch as Ronin offered a price to Lloyd. Everytime Ronin said a price that was unreasonable Lloyd took one step forward, and Ronin took one step back. Eventually, Ronin backs into a wall.
“Oh come on Lloyd! If I sell it to ya less than 200, that’s already a great deal. Come on, let’s agree on 195.” Says Ronin.

I notice Lloyd’s right hand began to glow green. Looking at LittleDuck as we both wonder if we should stop Lloyd. Ronin notices Lloyd’s hand and protests:
“Hey now. I thought you didn’t use your powers on low level thugs. Yet alone someone unarmed.”
“Who said I was going to blast this at you? I’m sure if I blast a few things in here, you’ll give us the tea.” Says Lloyd, pointing his right hand at a shelf full of trophies.
“Wait a minute! That’s property damage, you can’t do that.” Replies Ronin, placing himself in between the bookcase and Lloyd.

Lloyd’s right-hand lowers and stops glowing.

“It is, but how many of these are just things you stole from others? Maybe I should just bring the police commissioner here? I’m sure he’d be interested in what you're selling.” Says Lloyd, with a grin on his face.
“Fine, take what you need! At least leave some for me will ya.” Says Ronin, approaching a table and then handing Lloyd a bag.

Lloyd looks inside and grabs a few tea bags. Then tosses it back to Ronin without saying a word.
“Lloyd, it’s just business okay. Don’t take it personally” Says Ronin as Lloyd was about to walk out the door.
“You always say that but when are you going to realize there's more to life than yourself and business?” Asks Lloyd in a quiet yet firm tone.
“You think I steal all these things for myself? Ha! I guess, I would have you think that, but let me tell you this little revelation. I don’t just do this for myself or for business. I have people I care about too.” Says Ronin, turning away from us.
“You better get going, green ninja. It’s rude to keep a girl waiting.” Says Ronin.

With that LittleDuck, Lloyd and I all took our leave. Upon walking back to the ship Lloyd seemed to be thinking. Something that Ronin said changed his mood from angry to curious.
“What is it, Lloyd?” I ask.
“Uh… nothing too important. I guess I never thought Ronin had people he cared about, that's all. He’s always been well… difficult to understand.” Replies Lloyd, scratching the back of his head.
“Everyone has someone they care about.” I say.
“Yeah, but that’s the thing I have no idea who would be so important to him that he would steal all the time for? It’s like he’s supporting someone.” Says, Lloyd.
“Maybe he is?” LittleDuck chimes in.
“Maybe, but we can’t be wondering about that now. We need to focus on getting you home and bringing Harumi back.” Says, Lloyd.

Chapter-16:
Murderous Truth

Pov LittleDino:
Harumi and I have been walking for a bit, and luckily the temperature has warmed up, so we aren’t going to freeze to death. I’m not too sure Harumi knows where she’s going, but she’s confident she knows where we are.
“If we follow the edge of Ninjago Island, we’ll end up in the City of Stiix, and I know someone I can pay to get us back to Ninjago City.” She says.
“Then, when we get back. I’ll give him a piece of my mind.” Harumi mumbles to herself.

I chuckle to myself a little at this. Maybe it’s best not to get on Harumi’s bad side after all.
“So, what do you plan to do when this is all over with?” I ask.
“Other than finishing my crazy number of hours of community service. I’m not too sure.” Says Harumi.
“Community service? You mean Volunteer hours?” I ask, confused.
“Sight… No, I mean community service. It’s a punishment for what I did. I guess I should be thankful it isn’t jail time.” Says Harumi, avoiding eye contact and rubbing her right arm nervously.
“If you don’t mind me asking. What did you do exactly? Does it have to do with your resurrecting 2 people? “I ask, hoping she won't change the subject.
“Yes and no. More of what happened before and after the resurrections. The emperor in empress died in a fire that I helped orchestrate. Before you say anything, that wasn’t my intention to kill them, I just wanted a distraction to get something I needed for one of the resurrections.” Says Harumi, focusing ahead.

I stop for a moment and pause. That was only before she resurrected one of them? What happened after? Harumi realizes I stopped and looks back at me. She seems afraid of me, even though I almost felt like it should be the other way around.
“What happened after the resurrections?” I ask nervously, continuing to walk forward.
“The people I brought back who I thought would protect the city only wanted to destroy it. Instead of realizing my mistake and trying to stop them I helped them. It wasn’t until one of them broke me by admitting they were the reason I lost my birth parents did I retaliate against them.” Says Harumi, anger rising in her voice as she spoke.
“At least you realized your mistakes.” I say, hoping to de-escalate the situation.
“That’s the problem! I realized what I was doing was wrong a while ago but did I care to stop it? No! I was selfish and only did something when it affected me!” Says Harumi, frustrated at herself with tears building up in her eyes.
“I don’t know why Lloyd is so quick to forgive me. I hurt him the most, and yet even after all I did, he told me to my face that he still cared about me. I... I can’t figure out why.” Says Harumi, wiping away a few tears trying to recompose herself.

I give her a few minutes. Harumi seems to have been holding that in for a while. She seems to have relaxed to a few sniffles, and I decided it was my turn to talk.

“I can tell you why Lloyd forgave you. You have a good heart, just really bad execution.” I say chuckling a little as an attempt to lighten the mood.
“Like you said, you realized what you were doing was wrong. Yet, as for why you didn’t stop them. If I were to take a guess it was because you were scared.” I continue.

When Harumi looks up at me, I knew what I said wasn’t just a guess.
“You were worried about what they would do to you if you betrayed them. Weren’t you?” I ask, my voice not much louder than a whisper.

When Harumi nodded her head, I wasn’t sure what to say.

Pov Harumi:
So much for wearing a mask. Why does it have to be the ones who cry the least, cry the hardest? As much as I hated to admit it, I think that was something I needed to do. I needed to tell someone, and frankly, as much as I want to tell Lloyd. I don’t think I’m comfortable yet. He’s the closest person I call family, but that’s the problem. I know he blames himself whenever I’m in harm's way, and to tell him I was too afraid to join him because I was afraid of what Garmadon or The Overlord would do. I feel like that would only make his guilt worse and make me feel like a burden.
“You, okay?” Asks LittleDino.
“I will be. I still have a long way to go.” I say, giving a faint smile.
“Hopefully, I didn’t make things worse. I didn’t mean to pry. I… I was just curious.” Says LittleDino.
“You didn’t make it worse. In fact, I think you did the opposite. I’ve been holding that in for a while and it’s about time I talk to someone about it. “I say, kicking a small rock as we walk.

We walk in silence for an hour or two, taking small breaks here and there to rest our legs and admire the view of the sun touching the ocean. Then we noticed a ship sailing the sea. I smiled widely as I realized what ship it was… The oh so wonderful Destiny’s Bounty, green ninja included!

Fun fact: The line "The oh so wonderful Destiny’s Bounty, green ninja included!"is a reference to the story Secrets Left Written where on day 2 Harumi says "The oh so wonderful Destiny’s Bounty, green ninja included!". The only difference is that in this case it's less sarcastic then in Secrets Left Written.
