Brief Overview:London is one of the most diverse cities in the world! By racial diversity, and architectural diversity. London's demand for office space is at a record high, and thus the most economic way to build office space is of course; the modern skyscraper. In the last 20 years London has developed many tall skyscrapers, ranging from the Canary Wharf skyline, to the latest City skyline.

The world famous 'Gherki' skyscraper began the new generation of skyscrapers that are appearing across the city and thus forming London's skyline. Since then many new towers have been completed, such as; The Heron Tower, The Willis Tower, Broadgate Tower, and the new Stock Exchange Tower.

Many of the latest editions to the skyline is of course 'The Shard' - the tallest building in Europe. Topping out at 308 metres, it has caught the attention of architects and high-rise enthusiasts across the Globe.

But what else is coming?

The Newcomers:
As I type this, many new towers are under construction in London at this time. However, the three main towers are as follows; The Pinnacle, The Walkie Talkie and not forgetting The Cheesgrater. All beautiful projects and will carry on the flow of high-rise building in London for years to come! I will show you some of the designs of each building, and tell you a little bit about them. Please leave any feedback and tell me what's favourite?

The Walkie Talkie:
20 Fenchurch Street, nicknamed; The Walkie Talkie is developing the quickest out of the three towers mentioned. I believe this structures odd shape will really bring attention to this part of the city. Also the difference is with 20 Fenchurch Street is that it is separated from the rest of the Square Mile Cluster skyscrapers, thus its unusual positioning will bring further glamour to its presence. An interesting aspect about this building is that the top floor is a public viewing garden, sure to bring in many tourists.

The Cheese Grater:
122 Leadenhall Street, also known as The Cheese Grater, will rise to 225 metres and will also be home to the new AoN international headquarters as part of a move of HQ's from Chicago to London. The Cheese Grater will be located in the central cluster of the Square Mile's skyscrapers, and will also be one of the tallest, thus adding to the City's skyline dramatically.

The Pinnacle:
The Pinnacle tower is currently on hold for financial reasons. Besides, whenever this structure enters the London skyline, it will certainly change the skylines image and also become the second tallest building in Britain and Europe with a completed height of 288 metres (946 ft.). However if the project is continued to be delayed, it will be un-sure whether the tower will be completed on time to claim such titles. Either way, this beautiful piece of design really does deserve some great recognition.

Conclusion:
Well the conclusion is simple! By 2014 the City of London will have two new outstanding pieces of engineering at its doorstep; The Walkie Talkie and the Cheese Grater. The Pinnacle will slowly follow these example of architecture, and become the tallest tower in the square mile. These towers will no doubt bring a new vibe to the City, and a sort of metaphor resembling how Britain could overcome the recession, and the London as a City cannot be defeated.
