Here are some tutorials for Minecraft. Note that all these are based on a Windows operating system.

Texture Packs:

Creating texture packs is a fairly difficult task. The hardest part would be actually creating the textures. The rest however is incredibly simple. To start, you will need WinRAR, 7Zip or something else to jar files. You will need something such as GIMP to edit the textures. Paint won't work because it is unstable. Also don't expect to be done in a week or two. Creating texture packs take a long time. First, open the program "run" from your Windows start menu. In the box type, "%appdata%" and then click run. From the folder that opens up you should see either a ".minecraft" folder or a "Roaming" folder. (In the Roaming folder there is a .minecraft folder) Double click the .minecraft folder and then double click the bin folder. Then right-click the minecraft.jar file, roll over the open with option, and select WinRAR. Then move the files that contain the textures you wish to modify to another folder. Then you can open the png images with GIMP and modify them there. Once you are done archive everything in the folder as a .zip file and you are done.

Creating Higher Quality Texture Packs:

With GIMP you must "scale" the image to a higher size. To do this go to "Image" and then "Scale Image". Then multiply the width and height to get the quality you want. (It has to be a square number) For example, to get a 32x32 texture pack you would multiply the number by two since each texture is 16x16. Also set the quality to none. This is basically all it takes to create higher quality texture packs.

Making Skins:

There are two ways to make skins. The first way is to download the Steve skin off of minecraft.net and edit it with and image manipulating program such as GIMP or Photoshop. You can also use free sites such as www.minecraftskins.com. To upload a skin log in to minecraft.net and go to "Profile". Then simply upload your skin once you've selected the file off your computer.

How to make a Vanilla Server:

Just to note this is not a server with plugins. That would take too much time to explain and I don't have a youtube channel to upload tutorials which would simplify it a great deal. Vanilla servers are very simple. Go to minecraft.net and look at the downloads. There should be an exe file at the bottom of the page. Download that and put it in a folder anywhere. It would be easy to put the folder on you desktop. Don't put the file on your desktop though. It's going to generate files and you want that in a folder. Run the file and it should generate files with which you can configure it with. The server.properties is the main file you use to configure your server. There are also ban.txt and op.txt. You had better go ahead and op yourself. Make sure you close your server by typing stop. Do NOT press the 'X' button. After that you should be able to portforward your server which is something I won't go into right now. That is the basics of creating a server.
