SPACE THE FINAL FRONTIER...

Imagine if notch added outer space to minecraft, and you could travel to other worlds, each world taking up a different space in your saves (only ones you have traveled to, it generates them randomly!). This could be much like going to the nether. Once in space and you enter a planets atmosphere, it loads the world. Space shuttles could be built by with Iron blocks, and engine blocks could be added. Now I wouldn't expect these other worlds to have atmospheres in which you can't breath, planets with no life, or planets with aliens and strange landscapes. Moons and stars? This all sounds very far-fetched, but minecraft is a game of possibilities! Planets could be square and have images to represent them...

4/2/11 Prefix mobs? Notch once said prefix mobs would exist, but what could they be? Giant Creepers? How fun!

A fine idea, But massive amounts of lag would join with this, certain things would have to be removed to keep the game running smooth, And people could just build massive towers from planet to planet...Which might cause glitching in a sort..Depending on how advanced the idea would go...And minecraft worlds are basically flat and infinate, So seeing how that would play out would be interesting...It would need a total overhaul of the original world generator

but indeed, worlds are near infinite and flat, so how would planets look like?

Maybe, a bit too much like Spore but it's aight. Would the planets be square? This would cause some controversy cause Minecraft worlds are flat. The scale would be all disoriented when you get to space.

good point... I would have a laugh seeing square planets, so I think it would be alright. Also, the infinite world thing-- Maybe each world could have a planet image when you see it in space, but when you get into its atmosphere it loads the actual world. I'll update the blog after I finish some things I gots to do.
