Hey PMC! My minedea, as seen in the title, is the ability to change the species of Steve. Each species would have a separate set of abilities, survival requirements, and preferred biomes. This blog will list the selection of species, mobs, items, biomes, and gameplay.

(minecraft art and skins of the species will hopefully be added in future updates)

Species

Merfolk

The concept of the Merfolk is that you swim faster, see in the dark and breathe underwater. When a Merfolk game is started the player spawns at the bottom of an ocean.

Improved Ocean Biome: Oceans gradually get deep enough to reach bedrock. Seaweed growing up to 5 blocks long at the bedrock stage of the ocean (used as a food resource). Coral can be collected from shallow parts of the ocean and used to craft a new tool set and armour with the durability of stone and leather. Deposits of driftwood spawn at the bottom of the ocean and float freely on the surface.

New mobs like sharks, fish, zombie sailors, jellyfish, and Aquatic Creepers are added to the ocean which will only spawn during the night and vanish in a puff of bubbles when the sun rises :3 (jellyfish remain during the day and become passive (similar to spiders)).

Gameplay: Collecting driftwood rather than venturing onto the surface to punch trees means the player can avoid the worry of suffocation. Once wood has been collected the player can mine, but remember to keep your mine flooded. Food is collected from sharks, passive fish and seaweed.

Fairies

imagesqtbnANdGcQMeGLPgonlslORHtwU(not your normal fairy, but this is more along the lines of what i mean)

The concept of Fairies is that you can fly but cano t venture below the surface of the earth. When a Fairy game is started the player spawns in The Loft (new biome).

The Loft (new biome): A biome of enormous floating islands at the highest altitude. The bottom of the islands is made of bedrock which forms a sort of bowl that the islands sit within and creates an impenetrable layer. The islands are lush and covered in greenery. The islands also contain networks of caves which wind their way through the islands. Within the islands you cannot find all the normal ores but instead you have access to rare gems (e.g. sapphires, and rubies) which can be crafted into tool sets and armour. The sapphires have the equivalent strength of iron, and rubies have the equivalent strength of gold. The islands float over another new biome called The Trench which is a barren crater which spreads below and slightly outwards from The Loft. It is filled with a deathly mist which floats at and below the level where the fairies cannot go below (this is a biome to be avoided by all species and means reaching The Loft without a pair of wings is quite difficult).

New mobs designed for battle in the sky include vultures, Harpies, and wyverns (small dragons which dono t breathe fire). They will only spawn during the night and will vanish in a puff of feathers when the sun rises (vultures remain during the day and become passive (similar to spiders)).

Gameplay: As a fairy you play a very similar game to humans where you scavenge for food on the surface, but when you mine rather than delving into the earth you must explore the caverns of The Loft.

Volcanoid

imagesqtbnANdGcSjjELOVjJnvc_qZDdQK

The concept of Volcanoids is that you are a creature of flames which burns everything it passes and can survive lava and fire. On the downside on contact with water Volcanoids will take damage(similar to the effect of lava on Steve in the current minecraft). When a Volcanoid game is started the player spawns in The Discharge.

The Discharge (new biome): A biome filled with volcanoes, crevices of lava, and eternal flames. This area is what you could call a nether out of the nether. The area has one large central volcano which has a constant lava flow and smaller volcanoes which periodically erupt and spew lava into their general vicinity. Rather than any greenery within the area ito s all charred wood which creates a new tool set and armour with the strength of normal wood. Food can be collected from mob drops and mushrooms. These biomes would be very large and less common than other biomes.

Mobs that spawn in The Discharge include lava serpents, Chinese Dragons (breath fire), and phoenixes. These mobs only spawn at night and disappear in a small harmless explosion when the sun rises (lava serpents remain after sunrise but become passive until sunset (similar to spiders)).

Gameplay: As a Volcanoid you must firstly collect charred wood since all other greenery will burn the second you come into contact with you. Once youo ve started mining you play very similarly to a human although mine with care since avoiding water is far more difficult than avoiding lava since there is such an abundance of water. Therefore it is safest to stay in The Discharge and mine below it.

Human

If you select human you will simply play a normal game of minecraft, meaning if you get bored of exploring the depths, soaring through the skies, or wallowing in lava you can always fall back on the good old original. Although as a human you can still explore all of the different biomes but it would be quite dangerous.

Overall i believe that this would improve gameplay and create a wider range of opportunities for your survival worlds. Players could also play the game in a way that suits their personality and enjoy a larger world to explore

I hope you liked this blog and if so please diamond and feedback is appreciated. If you like it enough please favorite and if you want more please subscribe.
