Hello Everyone!

This is my first blog! I have decided to do the Minedeas contest. First of all, I think Minecraft is amazing as it is, and doesn't really need any additions to it, but I think it would be pretty awesome if these things were to get added. I will be adding more stuff each day as time passes, because I got school and stuff I can't do it all in 2-3 days. Anyway, hope you all like my ideas.

Now, let's begin.

Basics - Bits
Okay, there are a few things to know before we get started. Bits are the currency. There are 4 types of bits, Copper, silver, gold and diamond bits. 100 copper is equal to 1 silver, 100 silver to 1 gold, etc. Bits would be used to buy pretty much everything from traders and merchants. Most zombies and skeletons will drop a low amount of bits on death, and they automatically go into your bit pouch. Once put in, you can't put out, unless you're buying things. On death, you will drop about 10% of your bits. This would work very well because even if you die and lose all your diamonds or gold, you still have something after death.

Basics - Reputation
In this, you gain/lose reputation by doing many things. If you just go around pillaging towns and killing townspeople randomly, your reputation will drop. If it gets too negative, you won't be able to go into any cities and towns won't allow you to use their home statue. If you have a good reputation, you may get discounts in the markets or you may get given presents, such as a flower. Players would have to think carefully about what they attack, as it may damage their reputation.

Basics - Home Statue
Most towns or cities will have a Statue in their market district. If you have a good relationship with the town, you may use the home statue. This allows you to set the town as your home town, and you may get benefits from it, such as it being your spawn point. This removes the need of having to make a bed to set your spawn and setting it is quick and easy. If you have set your home town previously and want to change, it will ask if you want to change.

Towns & Cities

First of all, I think Minecraft could be cooler if they had things like towns and cities. Like, massive towns bustling with people, from farmers to knights, not small crappy ones, like the NPC Villages we have today.

Towns
Towns will be populated anywhere from 10 to 30 townspeople, most being farmers. Towns will mainly consist of homes and market stalls, surrounded by a wooden or cobblestone wall. They will a town hall, although it won't have a purpose. Below is a diagram of a possible town design, the key is shown in the top corner.
Excuse me for my poor drawing, I rush it :C

As you can see, around the centre of the town, the market district is there. The town would be simply designed, just plain wood houses. The walls will be 3 blocks high. Because they're it's a town, most townspeople will be quite poor.

Cities
Cities will be probably 2-3 times larger than a city at the very least. Cities would house 50+ people, about half being workers or peasants, the rest ranging from merchants to infantrymen to priests. Cities will mostly be made out of cobble stone or stone bricks. They will have a 5 block high wall, being 2 blocks thick.

Cities will have a barracks, where knights and squires will sit. They'll normally patrol the town, attacking mobs and people with negative reputation. When you have good reputation, you may recruit a maximum of 4 knights and squires. They will then follow you around until you right click them, putting them in 'guard' mode. With these guys by your side you can go mining with ease now that you know that these guys have your back, protecting you from zombies and creepers.

Depending on the size, some cities may have a fort or castle which houses a Lord/Lady. They may have personal requests that boost your reputation. If killed by you, your reputation drops significantly, and all the knights will be alerted and will try to kill you. If killed by a mob (Zombie, skeleton, spider etc.) a new Lord/Lady will take the last one's place after 3-4 minecraft days, as if nothing happened.

Towns and Cities would be an amazing addition to Minecraft. Not only is it a good way to liven up the world around you, these towns and cities can act as havens if you're constantly travelling, or a place to buy and sell goods. It's also a great way to set up base if you manage to remove all the inhabitants.
