Chapter One
I can hear the moans of the zombies below very faintly, they're still trying to get in from when they saw us hunting. It's been 7 months since the disease struck our town, Balineer, and it's been hell ever since. People have resorted to cannibalism, looting, and killing all to try to survive this thing.
My mom has been saying troops will be coming to save us and that this will be all over soon but everyone knows they won't. I can hear my mom comforting my sister again.
"I promise sweetie, it will all be over soon.", says mom with a promising voice
"Okay", my sister says, "love you."
I then hear a bunch of whispers I can't make out and my mom walks out of my sisters door.
My mom walks into my room and where I was so focused on eavesdropping when she walked in I jumped.
"Hey Jack." my mother says
"Hey mom." I said
"I know you don't believe help is coming-" my mom tries to say but I interrupt her
"Can we please not talk about this?" I complained
"Uh, okay, well goodnight and sweet dreams." she says then she leaves the room
It was about 15 or 20 minutes till I finally drifted to sleep but right as I started to sleep I heard a bang, I woke up startled, and then ran out of my room to see what was happening. When I exit my room I see my mom pushing the door.
Who's out there? I think to myself
I realize my mom is yelling for me to come help so I run over to help, we sit there for about 10 minutes holding the door before realizing that we would probably be sitting here for hours so she signals for me to go get my sister.
I got get my sister as she told me to and when she was awake we all pushed the door while my mother conceived a plan.
After a silence between us all my mother finally says something.
"Take your sister, climb down the ladder in the window, and run to the woods where the abandoned safe house is. I'll be there soon." she commanded
"Mom, are you sur-" I try to stay but she stops me mid-sentence
"Go." she barked
I do as she says.
It takes us about 10 minutes of running to get to the safe house which was hard considering all the zombies following us, when we got there I opened the door to the safe house, and then took my sister down to the trapdoor where all the food and weapons are.
We sat in silence, waiting and hoping that mom made it.
We hear a bang and I jump up startled.
"Stay here", I tell my sister "I'll be back."
"Okay." she says with a soft scared voice
I make my way up the ladder to the trap door and I look through the window and to my surprise I see-

"Oh wait", I say ,"We need some food and weapons"
I turn around, go back to the trap door, and grab as much food as my back pack can full then grab armor & swords for the both of us.
After about 5 minutes of grabbing supplies I remember it's night and it would be safer during day.
"We should try to get some rest and we'll leave tomorrow." I say
"Okay" she says
I fall asleep right when I lay down, I'm so tired.
I dream about how mean I was when my mom tried to talk to me about help coming, I wake up at about 7AM, and I realize I was sweating and crying when I was asleep.

Chapter Two
I make my way up the ladder to the trap door and I look through the window and to my surprise I see my mom!
She's running down the hill- no, wait...
I see the details of my mom, she has bites all over her and she has a greenish skin color.
"She, she she's a zombie." I stutter
"NO", I start to scream over and over, "NO, NO, NO, NO!"
I drop to the floor and just lay there until my sister comes out.
"Whats wrong Jack?" she says with a hint of fear in her voice
If I tell her she's gonna lose all hope I think to myself sadly
"Uh nothing, mom came and said to go on without her, she wants to stay here, and she told me to tell us to uh go leave."
"Why didn't she say bye?" she says
"She couldn't stay long-"
Gotta think of an excuse and quick I say in my head
"Zombies, yeah. Zombies were coming." I lie
We both sit in silence for a minute until I finally break the silence and walk towards the back door.
"Well", she says sadly, "I guess we gotta go."
"Yep" I say
"Oh wait", I say ,"We need some food and weapons"

END OF CHAPTER TWO
Chapter Three
I wipe the tears from my face hoping my sister didn't see them. My sister had seemed to of made breakfast, I dunno how, and I didn't ask.
She handed me the food, it was porkchop. I looked up at her, and thanked her with my head.
It tasted delicious, she nodded and walked to the kitchen, and laid her head down on the counter.
She started to cry after a minute.
"What's wrong?" I ask sympathetically
"Mom isn't alive, is she?" she asked sternly
We sat in silence for a moment
"Is mom alive?" she said again, looking up at me tears streaming down her face
"No." I say softly
She starts to cry even harder, she runs to me and hugs me, still crying.
"It's gonna be okay Kayla, I promise." I say
"Okay." she says, gaining her composure
She stops crying and we get up in silence.
"Time to hit the road Kayla." I say
"Okay."
We leave and after about a hour of walking we see a village.
They welcome us and let us live there.
Surprisingly, my dad was there..
He said he was scouting for food and mobs when he found this place.
I told him about mom and he said we're just gonna live her now.
Happily ever after I guess.
Note: Sorry about the ending guys, I can't do long stories, I start to lose the creativity flow in the plot, from now on I'm just gonna write short stories. Thanks for all the support on Minepocalypse!
