Shopping in Diagon Alley was a blast! First I got to pick dress robes, I chose deep pink even though every other Gene chose emerald green. Next, my wand. Mine turned out to be cherry (specifically Cherry 11in. Unicorn Hair Core). The only cherry wand in the whole family, everyone else has an acacia wand. This newer shop, Weasley's Wizard Wheezes sold mini Puffskeins! I bought 2 and and put them in a normal Puffskein cage. Then we headed to the castle and for some reason, all the first years took the lake with Hagrid. Once we made it there, Headmistress McGonagall brought out the Sorting Hat. First years began getting sorted. Professor McGonagall and the Sorting Hat took turns speaking. "Kleaves, Max." Professor McGonagall said. "Hmm. Gryffindor!" the Sorting Hat said. Blah, Blah, Blah. 50 or 60 names were called before mine. "Gene, Emmeline" Professor McGonagall said. I walked slowly to the front of the Great Hall and sat down on the stool. I had been thinking, set me apart, please. Guess what? That was exactly what the Sorting Hat did. "Hufflepuff!" the Sorting Hat shouted. A gasp emerged from the Great Hall. My brother and sisters looked furious. I was the first Gene to not be Slytherin. My brother James actually shouted "Try it on her again! She is a Gene for crying out loud! A Gene!!!" this is not what the headmistress believed. "She may be a Gene, but she is also a Hufflepuff. The Sorting Hat doesn't make mistakes." My sister Adelaide still looked angry "Well it has now! She must be Slytherin! She must! All Genes are!!!" I came in now, "Maybe, if you ever cared to notice, I don't want to be Slytherin." I swear I saw the Sorting Hat smirk. "Well now that is settled, let the feast begin!" Professor McGonagall said as she waved her wand and made food pop out of thin air. Everyone still looked surprised except for all the school-aged Genes who still looked simply furious. I became very prideful of my house. I also began the Muggle Blood Support Club. My family was FURIOUS to find out this. Oh, and I almost forgot, my Patronus is a... Otter! When James heard about this, he had said "Wait, Genes can have furry Patronuses? Hmmm,"
