(I know the drawing's not the best I did it in like 20 minutes cut me some slack)Hey guys, it's VashM16, and today I'm going to be talking about the name "Parkour" and why I don't exactly appreciate it. Now, I know this is basically nitpicking, but I don't have enough friends to nitpick at them and they really wouldn't care. Now, since jumping puzzles first started becoming popular in Adventure Maps, people started calling them "parkour". Now, from a realistic standpoint, this makes sense. Generally when people are jumping around to get somewhere they're doing parkour. But, from the standpoint of somebody who's played videogames since he was 3 years old, it's really irritating, because it's obviously not parkour, but rather "platforming". Platforming as always been the term in video games when you jump around on things to get some where. Super Mario Bros. is a platformer, along with Mario 64. And since this is a video game, obviously it would make sense to call it "platforming," no? But every single bloody person, map maker or not, regardless of age, or video-gaming experience, call it parkour, and it absolutely drives me batsh*t crazy. Parkour is not just jumping around, it includes climbing, grabbing and all that stuff, all stuff which Minecraft doesn't have naturally. Sure, Smart moving incorporates it but most maps are not made with Smart Moving in mind.
