Well hello there. This blog is kind of just a test blog with some new features and that I want to add in. Tell me what you guys think in the comments and tell me how I can improve. I am also trying to redo the about me and trying to work on a new avatar and also some new banners. But I have been wanting to talk about this for a while now.
Well, let's begin. We'll start with a dictionary definition of rehashing:
So, Google has defined Rehashing. Rehashing isn't so common anymore but it was back when things like Assassin's Creed Revalations and Brotherhood were released, when blogs about bullying where all out there constantly making the reel and so much more.
Now, let's discuss the idea of Rehashing and why people will do it. Let's start with the idea.
The Idea: Now, the idea of Rehashing is using someone else's work and slightly changing it for the new creators benefit. Let's take an example. As we know, Minecraft was based off InfiniMiner, but games like Eden World Builder (99c on ios) are what is known as a clone. They "vomit" out a creation which is basically the same as something they based it off. They use the same style, same graphics, same voice, same tone and generally want to use things which make it similar.
If we look at Psy's (relatively) new song, Gentleman then we see, in the music video, a lot of rehashes of what was popular in Gangnam Style. From the rehashing they use ideas rather than making their own ideas and have a base, all set and ready for someone to come and work on it and (in their eyes) improve.
Why: People will rehash for several reasons. The first being an easy creation. At the time say bullying blogs were big, people could just hop on and use the ideas already there and (whether they realized or not) create a blog with those same ideas, in the hope of making the pop reel. Which is the second reason.
Fame or money. Now, a lot of people (even myself at times) can be power hungry. This means we want to have lots of money to do what we want and we want to be known an popular with everyone, which is why a lot of people fail on Youtube and such. People who do rehash for these reasons end up failing and not succeeding and end up quitting. Rehashing can be good in terms of things like, say boat racing. If many people in the Minecraft community created a boat racing map, then the community would become competitive to create boat racing maps which are better than the old ones making them feel proud.
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Now I have talked about some good, some bad and some ugly things from rehashing. So we'll start by rehashing (:P) the good ideas from rehashing and move to the bad and then the ugly :D.
Good: Can improve upon and create a new and better version, creating competition to make something the best, giving the consumer the best product possible
Bad: People will take their time out of doing things which are new and use it on trying to copy someone else's idea and lose creativity from their work
Ugly: People lose all sense and believe that they should've become popular because someone else's became popular. They think that, the idea which they rehashed would give them the edge and give them power, and when they don't people can rage and things can get uglier.
So, thank you for reading. This is something that I wanted to talk about as I feel it may become a pressing issue very soon as things like teen girl skins and such are being rehashed more and more. The best way to stop rehashing is by realizing creativity and new things are the best. Why do you think Minecraft is so popular? Because it adds new features which aren't similar to old ones and they improve if they are rehashing ideas.
