People are always uploading minecraft videos to youtube every hour of everyday. Today I'll be showing you how to get started on recording your very own minecraft videos!

1. System Requirements
I am guessing you can run minecraft pretty well without issue, but some people have trouble with recording due to FPS drop. The best way to check what your pc specs are press start and right click computer and click properties.
The Main thing you are looking for is Installed memory (RAM)

I good amout of ram to record minecraft is 3 and up, I suggest having 4 - 5GB of ram but 3 will be just fine. You also want to make sure you have a 64-bit pc.
If you have less than 3GB of ram you may experience lag / FPS drop when you record which is normal but could mess up the video in the longrun and the next step coming up.

Great now that you know how much ram you have we can move on!

2. Adding more RAM to minecraft

Now a lot of people already know how to do this and most likely you have done it aswell but for people who don't know how to do just keep reading.

Open the minecraft launcher and under your profile name click "Edit Profile" the profile editor will open.
For the profile name call it More Ram (Or whatever you want to call it) next go to the very bottom and check JVM Arguments
and type this in exactly.

-Xmx2048M -Xms2048M

^This code is telling minecraft to run 2GB of RAM at minninum and at most you can raise it, for example if you wannted to run 4GB of ram simply do the math equation 4 x 1024 = 4096. 4096 is 4GB of ram. Now just replace the 2048 in the code with 4096 and you will be running 4GB!

NOW REMEMBER NEVER EVER RUN MORE THAN 70% OF YOUR RAM. It can crash programs and even make your pc timeout.

Also if you are running a 32-bit computer you can only have 32-bit java installed which will only let you run 1GB of ram even if you change the JVM Arguments.

once you entered that click save profile and launch your game.

To see if it worked go into a world and press F3 and look at the top right, if it says memory 2048 or around 2000 you did it right and you are ready for the next step!

If it says it is less than 1GB / 1024m then check your code and see if its the same, make sure you have Java 64-bit Offline installed on your pc. If you went to Java's site to install Java it will install 32-bit by default which happend to me in the past.
If that is the case uninstall Java and download the Offline 64-bit java and run minecraft again.
64-bit java download: download

3. Recording Programs!
Look at you becoming one of the big leagues! You are almost done! Now that we know minecraft wont lag / lag as much when recording its time to get us a recording program. There are many of recording programs out there but I use Fraps which can be pretty demanding and makes a huge file size based on how many frames you use. But if you have one that you like to use then use that xD
Remember when using Fraps set your FPS to 30 but if you think your pc can run it go to 60 or 50

But if you want fraps the FULL Version for Free click this link bellow (There is no viruses don't worry I use it all the time)

4. Editing software and Best Render Settings!
Alright now its time to get creative! Most people would be using movie maker but if you wannted to get a bit more advanced then I suggest getting Sony Vegas Pro 13 or any of the past versions.
In this Tutorial I will be showing render settings for only Sony Vegas (Sorry) ANYWAY LETS MOVE ON!
Sony vegas does cost money but if you are feeling a little evil you can always find a free download for it, just google on youtube there is tons of videos to show you how to get it.

Open Sony Vegas and click the mouse in the box icon (Project Properties) next you are going to want to select a template. I suggest using "HDV 720-30p (1280x720, 29.970 fps)"
Keep eveything you see the same except for Deinterlace method at the bottom, change that to "Blend fields" once you did that click apply and ok.

Now that you are done editing your video, you are now ready to render! Click file at the top left and then select "Render As"
For the output format you are going to want to change it to Sony AVC/MVC (*,mp4;.*m2ts;*.avc) then select customize template.

Call the template Youtube HD change the notes if you want make sure the video format is AVC, the Frame size must be High definiton (1920x1080) if you want 1080p but if you want 720p select (1280x720). Next make sure the profile is set to High and keep Entropy coding CABAC and the frame rate at 29.970 NTSC. Keep the Field order NONE keep the pixel aspect ratio at 1.0000 and keep the bit rate (BPS) at 8,000,000. Keep number of silces set to 1 and finnaly keep the encode mode set to Render using GPU if available,(that way it will use your video card and your CPU instead of just your CPU).

Once you are done that click the Audio tab at the bottom and check the box for Audio. Click the Save Icon at the top then click ok at the bottom. You should now have the template to use whenever you want.

Now that your video is ready to render you just have to wait, then upload your video to youtube!

While you are waiting for the render to finish you can make a thumbnail for your video. I suggest using photoshop but anything will do (even MS PAINT........) If you want some awesome looking designs and fonts just google dafont to get gaming and minecraft fonts.

I hope this guide has helped you become more farmillier with recording and editing your minecraft videos. If you have any questions just post bellow and remember a diamond is always welcome here. :D
