Lots of servers don't have set rules for their staff. Heres some you can go off of or copy completely. No credit needed!
1. No Griefing. This may be a normal rule but staff can still use their power to the advantage.
2. No spawning in items for players. This is self explanatory. Players should get their own items themselves. Isnt that the point of the game!
3. Follow the rules. Just because your a higher up doesnt mean the rules dont apply. The rules are the same for everyone, and they are read at spawn.
4. Don't take advantage of your privileges. This means don't abuse.
5. Obey your superiors. This means you need to do what a higher ranking staff member says, within reason. If they say "gimme a million bucks" you don't need to. If its something like "hey, can you go take care of (player) for me? I am a bit busy" then you should probably do it. Its not going to kill you.
6. Don't punish people with no good reason. If a player swears, warn him not to. If he does again, mute him. If he manages to find a way to swear while muted then you can tempban or extend the mute. Never permanently ban someone unless they are being a troll and have no intention of playing, or if they completely cross the line. Also, only kick people if they are doing something bad and you tell them to stop but they ignore you. Use it only for this reason.
7. Do not punish other staff members unless they completely cross the line. If they are abusing, for example, worldediting someones town and not undoing it and breaking a variation of rules, you can tempban them. They can unmute themselves, so don't try and mute them. If you ban a staff member then there will be one less person to moderate the server. and you'll probably get in trouble!
