Hey! My in-game name is Frogy211. I'm playing minecraft since Beta 1.8.1 . I'm mostly a roleplayer. Enough for you to know.

-Read update 1-

I'm here to talk about a special minecraft project. I'm part of a group of friends (10 players) that is building a 1000+ chunks town called Lithaear. I do play on a well known RP server (is revealing it advertising?), and the town will, obviously, be a player-runned roleplay town on it.

My short blog here will about how to create, build and plan up huge towns on multiplayer servers. For you fellow roleplayers~ ;)

Step 1, the comunity.

If you have the patience and the will to build and run a town by yourself, skip that step. You anti-social. ;) The community will be the pillar of the success of a player-runned town. It is important to include every members and/or make them they are not only slaves working for you. It is also important to have a devoted "government" for the town. By government I mean assistants. Players that you trust. It's almost impossible to run a town alone. There's so much to do. That's why it's important to share the jobs. An assistant sorting political' issues, one managing the building of the town, one running the army, etc.

Once you have a well structured "government", time to recruit! Depending of type of town you're running (PvP town, RP town, trading town) you will have to recruit specific type of player. Do I have to tell you what player type you need for a PvP town? Hope not. It is also recomended to filter the players that applicate to your town. For exemple, an age limit. Sometime trolls can slip through that kind of filter. That kind of animal can seriously mess with your town and nerves. It is recommended to kill them on sight and make disapear the bodies with fire. Back to serious talk. It's obviously much more enjoyable to have a mature town population. Am I right? ;)

My last point for today, the role-play! Not everyone has the touch at it. But if you do, it can seriously add fun and epicness to the game. It's minecraft after all. It's meant to live some crazy adventures! <3

Here's a short cut to my official blog, if anyone is interested. http://lithaear.blogspot.ca/

Also, it would be enjoyed if you guys can give me feedback on this blog. Is it useful? Have some questions? Wanna get into roleplay?

See ya in the next update, fellow miners!

Update #1 - Planning a town : by LithaearTown 11/27/2013 12:40:47 amNov 27th, 2013

Oh hello everyone!

A long overdue. I wanted to update this blog earlier. But I couldn't. Lack of time and I can say that I experienced the ban. (Derpy me...)

Let's get to interesting stuff. Planning a town... Hmm. Serious business isn't it? Depends. It depends of your dedication to your project, of course. Some aims for the top, some doesn't. But for those that aims higher than the stars, the path will be long and hard! But the result will be god-like. ;)

You now have a team of devoted assistants. You are talking about what style your town should be. At this point, a huge brainstorm is needed. Get inspiration from anywhere! PMC, youtube. Every pictures can be helpful, even IRL building pictures or fantasy art. Once you chose the style of building, start organizing the town. It can be very touchy though. Since you probably don't know the terrain where you will build your town. If you do, then no problem! If not, you should check out.

Plan, or not to plan? That is the question! "Dude, why should I plan? I can improvise, lol!" Leave this blog. xD Planning where the buildings will be, or how the quarters will be organized is one of the most important step of the creation of a roleplay town. Setting where the main point of interest will be right in the beggining helps a lot to make the whole town interesting. Example: "There is the palace, just beside is the cathedral and all the markets. The rest of the town is just some houses and a forest. So everything happens here buddy. Welcome to the town!" Who wants a town like that? Prolly not me. Well, I might be exagerating a little... It works. But in my opinion, it's a huge waste of space. Spread around the points of interest! Make the whole town usable!

There's a few way to easily plan a town. Paper and pencils or good ol' paint. Draw layers, mark where the quarters/important buildings will be. But it will never be accurate... You can also prepare the terrain ingame. Which is more complex in my opinion. "Hmm. Frogy, do you really think I will plan a whole 500 chuncks town ingame? It will take me hours!" Yes indeed. That is why some genius members of my team developed a way to gain so much time. And I introduce you the "3D block mini-map"! It is basically a plan of each chunks with blocks. Use different materials to make it easier to understand. Mark in which chunk your point of interest will be. Why is it revolutionary? Well as said earlier, paint will never be accurate, and planning each chunks ingame will take you a while. What is left? improvising? That's an option for a simple, low quality work. The 3D block map is revolutionary because it is small, accurate, easy to edit and it gives you a nice view over the whole town. Did I convince you yet? No? Then take a look at it! <3

You now have a nice team, you planned the used chunks and you know where everything will be. What's next, Frog? Add details and special shops/buildings like fountains, parks, little market stalls, etc. Makes the town looks so pretty. :)

Anyways, it's always up to you. Am I right? ~ (No it's not! Let me dictate and control you! *Evil laugh* )

*Yawns* Enough for tonight. I think it's time for me to go sl... Zzzzz...

I've always wanted to get into roleplaying, but I've never found a good group. Mind if I join your town when it gets built?
