SCIENCE WITH VILLAGERS
"Survival of the fittest" is a phrase that originated in evolutionary theory as an alternative (but less accurate) way of describing the mechanism of natural selection. It is more commonly used today in other contexts, to refer to a supposed greater probability that "fit" as opposed to "unfit" individuals will survive some test"
Villagers are the often overlooked part of the minecraft experience. What is the point to their existances? Dinosaurs in the vast vast expance of the minecraft world. They have been here before. They have survived. And they will, believe it or not, Outlive you! How do they define the popular theory of darwin? What factors to this surprising survival of their species? We at Quartzcraft, have made it our mission to find out the secrets of these people.
Adaptation
Over the course of time, species modify their phenotypes in ways that permit them to succeed in their environment. Since the dynamics of minecraft are limited, we shall study the adaptation of a villager in his one lifetime(not very long). Let's see how a villager adapts to immediate changes in his environment
Threat Test: I trap the subject in a test room and observe his behavior 1,A
Observation: The subject makes no effort to escape from the room, understandable, since no danger is posed to him.
Then I take out my bow and threaten him with a readied arrow 1,B
Observation: the subject shows extreme signs of retardedness. He makes no effort to plead, flee or hide.
I get so frustrated by his arrogance that i kill him and obtain a new subject.
Above: Subject dying a horrible horrible death
What happens when the subject has a way to save his life right in front of him? 1,C
He doesnt jump into the water. We can conclude a low self esteen among this peculiar species of minecraft mobs by this lack of self preserverance
Day 1's conclusion: We have so far, diagnosed this species with retardedness, along with a lack of self esteem, quick thinking skills and no sense of self-preservation at all. This species seems to be defying the laws of nature. Or they have another trick up their sleeve? Read the second part (coming soon) to find out the mystery behind this.
