I'm sorry I haven't posted part 4 a month ago. But here it is!
“I have never seen a ghost,” I said to him. He was a little taller than I was.
“I don’t believe in such things,” He replied. “Then, if you don’t believe in ghosts, how come you are the only one in this whole building?”
“I am the only...,” I replied.
“Oh, come now, Carter, you can’t fool me.”
“How long have you been here?” I asked.
“I’ve been here for a while.”
“And you’re scared, like I said?”
“No, I’m not scared, I’m here to see you, because I want to.”
“What makes you so sure I won’t mind you seeing me?”
“Because I know you wouldn’t, and that’s all I need to know.”
He began to clear the table. I had never seen him cook before, but he was very good. He fixed me a very nutritious meal. He was very polite. After he finished, we sat in the living room and watched TV together. He told me all about his life, his people, and all that he knew about this place. We even talked about me.
“So, Carter, why are you really here?” He asked.
“Do you remember me?” I asked.
“Carter! You don’t remember me?”
“I don’t remember you!” I replied in shock.
“Well, that’s okay. It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”
“No, it has been a very long time. I don’t remember you at all!”
“It’s okay, Carter, you don’t have to remember me. I’m here now, so you don’t have to live without me anymore.”
I felt myself tearing up.
“No, no! I don’t want to live without you.”
He looked at me like he was confused. “Oh, you mean that I’m your grandfather?”
“Yes! Oh, no, I don’t know how to take this,” I said. TO BE CONTINUED!
