Hello! Welcome to my shiny new tutorial on how to administrate ship battles!
If you don't know what ship battles is, it's this:
http://www.planetminecraft.com/forums/ship-battles-t51782.html
If you do, you may be among those who would like to play, but don't know how to set it up properly! So, here we go.
(If you'd like to watch my YouTube video on the subject, look above)
Anyway.
I'll break this down into some very easy steps.
1. Download the ships you want from PMC. Each ship download contains a ship and a ship flip. One goes on one side, the other goes on another side.
2. Choose which ships you want. You don't have to do each battle with the flipped versions of the same ship. What I mean by this is that you can match say...the pirate ship against the ironclad flip. Changing up the battles is what makes the game so fun!
3. THE FIRST TIME YOU PLAY with every ship, you'll need to save it. Hopefully your server admin has MCEdit and WorldEdit, which are both awesome tools. To save it, first paste it into an arena or wherever you want to play in MCEdit. Next, go to the ship in game and save it from a specified location of your choice with WorldEdit. MAKE SURE YOU SAVE EVERY SHIP FROM THE SAME PLACE! Repeat for the second ship. I'd suggest placing the two ships about 35 blocks apart.
4. ANY OTHER TIME YOU PLAY with a ship you've already used, simply load it with WorldEdit and paste it from the designated location in order to set up.
5. Choose teams. Teams then proceed to choose which ship they want to use. Load the ships for the individual teams and paste them in. Teams proceed to their respective ships.
6. Teams gear up. They may take items from the chests, and should be given the pirate kit, which consists of: Infinite TNT, a bow, 15 arrows, a golden apple, leather pants, 10 signs, a wooden sword, and a potion of healing II.
7. With players starting at the chests aboard ship, begin the game with a pre-determined signal.
8. Inflict carnage upon one another.
9. When you're ready to clear the arena, use either //undo 2 or cuboid, delete, and //fixwater both ships.
10. Repeat for more games!
It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it.
