For a new Minecraft update, I think they should add a 'Skills List' .
What it would do:
These skills could include: Mining, Woodcutting, Fishing, Crafting, Smithing, Cooking, Brewing, Enchanting, Strength, Archery/Range, and Agility (how fast sprint is drained)
How it would work:
Right now in Minecraft when you mine Coal, Redstone ect.. and kill enemies. You get expirience to level up. But what if you got expirience to different skills? For example, Mining: You mine ores and get epirience towards mining to level it up. The higher the level, the longer it takes for your pickaxe to break, and you could mine faster.
But why do this?
I think adding adding a more "Role Playing Game" feel to Minecraft would increase the playability of Survival. I myself am more of a Creative mode fan, but survival is always an enjoyable task to work on. If they wanted to they even could make a seperate game mode: Survival, Creative, Hardcore, RPG (or whatever a better name is ;p)
Skills perks (the higher level, what you unlock)
Mining: Less damage done to pickaxe, quicker mining
Woodcutting: Less damage done to axe, faster cutting
Crafting: Stronger wooden doors against zombies, ect...
Cooking: Certain foods heal more
Fishing: Less damage done to fishing pole, catch fish faster
Strength: More damage done to monsters
Defence: Less damage taken while wearing armor
Range/Archery: More damage done with arrows
Smithing: Stronger, longer lasting, weapons
Farming: Crops grow faster, obtain more produce per crop
