So, I currently have 2 single player worlds - one creative and one survival. And i decided today to do some more work in my survival one as i hadn't played it in a while and i wanted to explore it a bit more.
Before i went exploring i made some more planks and sticks which i then crafted into various weapons. Pretty much just axes though. I love a good axe :D And off i went.
I went racing through the woods and up and down hills. I chopped down a few trees and some flowers as i wanted to create some sort of garden around my beach side house...eventually. Then i came across some sheep and obtained white and grey wool which was great as i think i only had black and white in storage. Then i went off exploring behind my house and to the left as i hadn't gone there yet.
And that's where i saw it.

I was wondering if there was one. Anyway i went inside and used my newly crafted stone pick axe (it took me a while to realise i had to use that to mine things and not my axes. Don't judge :)) Anyway, I started pick axing around in there and got a lot more cobblestone (around 20 i think) and then i saw something with black pixels on it and decided to pick axe that too. It was coal! Yay! Then i thought now i can cook something in my furnace.
Teensie problem with that though...i don't have a furnace :(
I also managed to get some flint while i was in there, when i finally got back to the opening to the mine i saw that it was raining. Once actually outside, i also saw the sun was setting and rather than attempting to fight my way through the night, I decided to head back home. I got back to safety quickly and looked up how to make a furnace.
Finding it was only cobblestones, i made two of them with my freshly mined cobblestones and placed them in my house. It's more of a hut really from the limited size of it but still. Now i felt my home had everything it needed - furnaces, crafting table, a large chest for storage and a bed. What more could i want?
Now i was ready to get cooking. I saw that i had a lot of raw mutton with me so i decided that would be the first thing i would cook. I placed a single coal inside one of my furnaces and placed all my mutton inside it as well, because why not right? And that's how i learned that a single piece of coal could cook more than one item. I was very impressed. I managed to cook 6 out of 8 mutton and now had something that resembled a proper meal. Now it's time to chow down.
