Hey everyone, today I am writing a blog on steps to building a masterpiece of any kind. Hope this helps, enjoy!

1. Get a mental picture. Having an idea of what you want will go a long ways during the building process.
2. Categorize that picture into a theme or style, For example: Steampunk
2b. If you are using a texture pack, make sure it follows your theme, and that it looks decent in Vanilla, because people downloading your build from PMC might not have your textures.
3. Put together a pallette of blocks that you will use in the build. This does NOT have to be the only blocks you use, but it helps create color combinations and keep the theme together.
4. Find where you are going to build and outline the location of separate pieces. Example: trees in green, the house in red, etc.
5. Start out with terrain development. The terrain will act like a stage for your build to be showcased on. By doing this first, you avoid building in the wrong spot and having to move everything later.
6. Build the frame of the building. You don't have to finalize each block, but getting a solid shape, size, and look will make it easier.
7. Build the roof. (This can be switched with step 8) I find that building the roof first, avoids having to move things around later.
8. Fill in the frame with walls. (This can be switched with step 7) I tend to use symmetry in my walls, but that is up to your choice.
9. DETAILS, details, details. Use stairs, slabs, walls, fences, and other decorative blocks to cover those blank walls. Add smaller features to the area and your build will come together quickly.
10. Do the interior accordingly. Remember your theme you established, and stick to it. Throughout your entire build, if your theme was steampunk, don't add modern features!
11. For the most part, the build is complete. But there are a few more thing you should remember:
12. Depth: Instead of having flat walls, having structures which have a variety of depth will look more detailed and thorough.
13. Shape: Try to use other shapes than 3x3 squares for everything. Stairs and slabs help create curves and arches which can really boost the look of the build.
14. If you ever get stuck, Google buildings of your theme for ideas. Heck, PMC has hundreds of builds in every theme. Just remember, you are using the internet for ideas, not copying!
15. Keep patience, you might not get your desired results the firt time around, but keep trying new block variations, and you'll get it. If you are working on a megabuild, do not lose hope and work slowly, burning yourself out of the build won't help you finish.
16. Stay consistent throughout the build in quality level, don't ware off on one part because it will stick out to others.
17. You have now created a successful, good-looking build! Enjoy!

P.S. This method has worked for me in my building. It may not be for everyone, hence everyone has their own techniques of doing things.

The cover image is not one of my builds, it is by General John. You can fnid it here: www.planetminecraft.com/project/kings-cathedral/

I always thought I was the only one who built the roof first. O:
