Steve opened the door and stuck his head out into the early morning air.

He slowly exited the house out onto the farm and followed the road to town.

His mother had told him that his father was waiting by the market.

Steve walked through town down the empty main road.

A horse whinnied from the confines of the stables.

Steve smiled. He remembered the time when someone from the city had come on horseback and announced the councils decision to stop the horrible torture that was supposed to produce "supersoldiers"

The whole village had gathered at the farm to celebrate the end of that terrible time; most of them had feared they would get the slip and end up in a cell where the would be tested upon. The tension that had built up as that long year had gone on was so great that some even hugged the messenger for the news of the end of the terrible torture.

Steve's smile turned to a frown.

That horrible time. The iron golem council had deemed it necessary to begin those evil tests.

A group of messengers were sent out to the most populated areas to hand out slips to the people they would send out to the torture chambers housed in the city.

Steve abruptly came to a stop as he saw his father standing in front of the market.

Steve walked up and blurted out, "What now...?"

"We have to talk."
