The lights went out.
"What the...?" Steve's father said.
The hill they were on was pitch black; the city was the same.
"We're stranded! I can't see a thing," He said.
Steve unsheathed his sword. He had an uneasy feeling.
Shouts rang up the hill. Shouts for help.
"What's going on?!" Steve couldn't answer his dad's question.
All of a sudden a pinprick of light shone from the bottom of the hill, moving back and forth.
It was came closer and closer, bigger and bigger until it was revealed to be a man holding a flashlight.
"HEEEEEEEELP!" He shouted.
Suddenly Steve noticed the outlines of people behind him...
Then he realized they weren't human, and they were coated in blood.
"HEEEEEEELP ME! THEY'LL EAT ME!" His voice was louder now.
Steve couldn't move. He was scared straight.
"HEELP M-- AGHHHH!" The things jumped onto the man and tore his head off, ending his cries for help.
Steve moved unknowingly, running the opposite direction.
His father follow suit.
The things gave chase, following them through the mountains back to the village in record time.
"RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!" Steve had never heard his father shouted louder.
"RUN! RUN!" Steve started to yell too.
"EVERYONE GET OUT! WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!"
Suddenly a few lights came on.
Someone stepped out into the night and turned.
He froze.
A thing charged toward him.
"RUN!" Steve shouted.
Too late. He was killed and eaten by the monster.
Suddenly rage filled Steve and he unsheathed his sword to face the monsters.
Steve's father tugged at his shirt. "Come ON!"
Steve swung. One of the thing's head flew off in to the sky.
The monsters stopped and wheeled around, turning on their fellow beheaded monster and jumped on it.
"COME ON!" Steve's father shouted.
Steve and his father raced back toward the farm with all speed.
They finally reached home and got inside, locking the door behind them.
"WE HAVE TO GO NOW!" His dad shouted.
The mother stumbled down towards them, looking tired and confused.
"What's going on...?" She asked, rubbing her eyes.
All of a sudden the sound of glass breaking.
A monster slowly walked from behind her.
Steve's eyes widened.
"What's wrong honey?" She asked.
The thing grabbed her head and took a bite.
Bubbles appeared all over her body and she seemed to expand. She hunched over as spikes grew out from her back and she screamed, a long, drawn out scream that ended in a deep, evil tone.
Steve and his father ran for their lives away from the city, away from the ranch - Non-stop for hours. The surrounding area became a blur. They ran until their feet ached and bled, until they were no longer even within a mile of it.
