Hello once again, this is Steve's Life Part 2. This episode will be short due to it being a kind of transition from Steve's World to this alternate Dimension. Though I will be going into more detail. Should be fun! So let's begin!
Steve's Life Part 2
I remember, I walked down the road, following the crowd of others in their Lab coats heading to the Scientist's Center. Getting weird looks from people, as I was wearing the Farmer's Outfit, light blue T-Shirt to not attract too much sunlight, and blue jeans to protect our legs while in the fields. I reached the large Scientist's Center, I stopped in my tracks to look for where I needed to go. The scientist's split off into the different doors, about 10 lined the front of the building, each with a label above it. I found a sign labeled front desk, I walked through the door into the cool room that was on the other side. I walked to the person sitting behind the desk.
"Hello how are you?" The lady behind the desk asked me.
"I'm good," I lowered my tone, I'm not sure why, "I saw a billboard telling me to come here."
The lady's face changed, before cheerful, now serious. "Very well, I'll call down the scientist" The lady swiveled around in her chair to a thin metal rectangle in the wall, pressing the button she said "Mr. Jones, you have a visitor." The lady turned back to me and told me to have a seat pointing across the lobby towards the few chairs there. I went to take a seat, in a matter of seconds the scientist walked in.
"Rachel, where is this visitor you speak of?" Rachel pointed to me from her desk.
"Ah, yes, oh, a Farmer, interesting..." Indicating the clothing I wore. "What do you need? We already gave you the pesticide you asked for."
I explained to him the billboard I noticed, where just like Rachel his face turned different. "Follow me." Only those two words were all I needed for me to know that something big was happening. The man took me down a series of hallways through multiple doors, until we reached a large room, about 20 feet tall, and about 100 feet wide and long. I could tell that it was all needed for the amount of equipment in the room. The only parts of the room left bare were very narrow pathways connected to all the machines. At the back of the room was what caught my eye first.
I saw at the back of the room, an area where there was a purple wall, that was constantly moving, it emitted odd purple particles. The "Mr. Jones" man ran around the room quickly prepping machines. I asked him what was going on, all I wanted was an explanation about what was going on! I only got a quick reply of "There's no time"
I decided not to waste my energy on asking him more questions, I sat on the floor with my back against the wall. Watching the man run around the room quickly and every so often glancing at the back of the large room, towards the odd wall. About 15 minutes later Mr. Jones came over to me, and told me to stand. "What's goi..."
"The world is lower on energy then the Government allows us to tell, I know we've just met, but you are our last hope. We've... We've created an alternate universe, we were rushed in the making of the portal, indicating the wall at the back of the room. While testing we lost many scientists, nobody can see the portal except me, and you. I assume that this means we would be able to go through the portal."
"Then why do you not go through it? Why can only we see the portal and the billboard? What will be on the other side?"
"The person on the other side, they need a link to the world at first, I will be that link. You will be the person on the other side. I am unsure as to why only we can see the portal, and I do not know what will be on the other side."
"You don't seem to know much about this experiment, why should I risk my life on this?"
"If you don't go, the world will run out of energy, and we will go into anarchy."
"Isn't this going to use a lot of energy?"
"It may, but I am sure there are others on the other side." I accepted the fact, that if I didn't do this, I would go to jail for skipping Farm Work, if I did, I may lose my life or save the universe.
"There is no more time to talk, I've set up the portal, we need to work quickly. Come now."
I stood up from my spot on the floor, my heart was pounding, unsure if this was going to be the end. The scientist walked through the narrow paths, me at his heels, he led me toward the back of the room, to this portal he told me of. "Now then, do you have any questions?" He asked me this as handing me a backpack, I took it from his hands, expecting it to weigh more, but all I felt was the rough material it was made of.
"What is this?" I asked him
"This backpack, is the only of it's kind, no matter what is in it, no matter how much it goes through, it will no get damaged, nor will it get any heavier. Once you put it on though, it will not come off."
I hesitated at the thought of having a backpack permanently strapped to me. The man told me to put it on. I did as he said, put on the backpack expecting pain as in the movies, of something attaching to your body forever. It felt just like a normal backpack, "Take it off" The man told me. I thought it odd for him to tell me it to be impossible to take off, then tell me to take it off. I tried to do as he said. But it wouldn't work, I wrapped my hand around the backpack strap and pulled, it did not come off, it would not come off.
"Alright, now be prepared." I heard my heart pounding, so fast that it was unnatural, so loud that it was scary. The man walked to a table located close to the portal, with just a laptop sitting on it. He sat down and looked at me. "Step through the portal" He told me. I walked up to the base of the wall, took a deep breath. That was the last thing I heard before my whole world changed.
There is another story finished! Thank you for reading again, it's awesome that I got Popular Reel on my first post! It would be so amazing for me to get it again. Next episode I will start posting pictures of Steve's Builds, and you will be able to play through the world on the server I play on! It'll be really fun guys, I cannot wait for it to happen. By the way, this inspired me to do a spot of writing on PMC. Is this okay? I won't copy any of the concepts and plots here.
