My sister, Becka, has Downs Sydrome. Downs Sydrome is a disorder that affects her appearance, bodily functions, growth, learning capability, etc. . . She is mentally disabled. On the bus, she would sit looking out the window. I had disliked my bus so I asked to get switched to my sisters bus. She rode the bus home with all the other regular kids. I began to sit with her on the bus she took. However, there was a kid named Stefan who sat accross from us. This kid was in my grade and he was a trouble maker. On the first day of riding on the bus that my sister rode, my sister wasn't on it. Stefan said, "You're not going to want to sit there, Chris, because the retarded girl sits there. She looks out the window and licks it all the time like a freak." I was disturbed about what had come out of his mouth. I wanted to go over and punch the living day lights out of him. I didn't want to say that she was my sister because I didn't want to get in trouble for it. I knew she didn't lick the window. All she does is sit there and breath hot air on it so she can draw pictures.
Soon after this my sister was being teased on the bus. Kids were calling her harsh and cruel names. I wasn't on the bus at the time so I had to learn about this through other mediums. As soon as I found out who called her names, I went on the bus and beat the sh*t out of them. I got suspended; however, my sister gave me a high five. I knew it was wrong for her to be learning these things. I told her later on to never do that to other kids as I had done.
The point of my story was to bring attention to those with special needs. My sister is one of millions who are disabled in any way.
