Garry has been beating on her for about 4 years. We found out earlier this year. At first Garry was calling us telling us that she was trying to kill herself, so we were having to listen to his whining on our voice mails all the time, I kept my cell phone OFF. I don't believe anything he says anyway, but when he said that she jumped out of the truck trying to kill herself, we decided to make a surprise visit..Garry seemed all happy that we showed up and Margaret was like a whipped child. Every time he would get close to her when she was trying to talk she would shut up and cower, so I got in between them and told her to tell us what is going on, she said that he has been slapping her and that she got out of the truck because he wouldn't stop it and let her out and she was sick of listening to him and had to get away from him for a while, so she got out of the truck. She was skinned from one end to the other. He claimed to have cooked for her and she didn't eat, she called him a liar and he got loud and I got loud and told him to shut the f*** up, it was her time to talk, he had had his time. She got to let out a lot of information, but she wouldn't leave with us.
In a few days she went to the Women's Shelter and then came to live with us for a week and then went back to him, against our wishes, but what could we do...within a week, we went and got her again, she was worse. The law had been called several times. None of their friends will come around them anymore because of Garry. I won't go out there anymore because of him, I had stopped over a year ago. He is such a damn useless piece of shit. Doug has gone out there and worked his ass off helping Margaret cut wood, even at times when he wasn't working full weeks and we didn't really have the money for the gas, but no one ever believes us when we say we are short on money, they think we are wealthy, pisses me off! Garry is a user, totally!
The second time she came to live with us, she had her bags packed and her dog with her, she was a totally different person, up beat and happy to be away from there, she had her dog and that had been a huge worry for her before. After 3 weeks she decided she needed to go out there, we were against it, but she had a feeling she needed to go. But during the 3 weeks, Andy had called and let us know that Garry was abusing the ambulance service and was finally in the hospital for a low heart rate and chest pain. He had called an ambulance 3 or 4 times and the final time, he wanted the ambulance to take him in running 'balls to the wall' and the ambulance wouldn't take him at all because there wasn't anything wrong with him. Garry kept saying his leg had gangrene in it and there wasn't anything wrong with it at all. (Andy is a paramedic and Garry would say he was Andy's uncle trying to get Andy to come and get him, but Andy was never at the station that handled that area or at work, whew for Andy!) The final call for the leg really pissed off the ambulance people and they told Garry it was the last time they would come out there without a cop coming first and if it was a false report, he would go to jail, so Garry decided he wanted to follow the ambulance to the hospital, so he stayed on their bumper to the hospital and they did not go fast, in fact they went slow, just to piss him off. lol The ambulance has to go to the hospital to file a report whether they bring someone in or not.
He left the 3 dogs he had in the house with no food or water and supposedly his cousin went out and fed and watered them..see he can't do anything! But Margaret had the intuition to go home and Doug took her and found the house full of dog shit, but the dogs were super happy to see people! They had been there on their own for 3 days. Garry didn't get out of the hospital, nor did anyone ever return to feed or water the dogs again. Thank goodness Margaret went home.
From the Lufkin hospital, they transferred Garry to a psych hospital in Louisiana to get him off the drugs he was on and because he is (in a Sheriff Deputy's words) f***ing crazy! He got out last week and they got into a fight in front of the court house where they were both arrested as the first newspaper article says.
The law called us at 3 am trying to find her once because they needed to take Garry home from jail. We couldn't get her all that night or the next day until Doug got home at 10pm, then he talked to her and she said he had been home 1 day and was back in jail, she didn't mention she had been in jail too.
She is fighting back and he is getting beat up as much as he is now, it just took a her a long time to start doing it. I think she thinks because the house is in both their names that he has rights, but he doesn't since he has proven he is crazy, a dope head and a danger to himself and others. He should be in a nursing home, this is where they said he would be when he got out of the hospital in Louisiana, but I'm sure he had some say in that, but Margaret can't take care of him anymore. Also, he broke the stove during the time Margaret was living with us...how does someone break a stove? A total idiot can break a stove!
He's never been to Vietnam, he doesn't have an education, he's a piece of shit. He had their neighbor arrest for beating a crippled because the man was trying to help Margaret when he was beating on her...can you believe this shit?
Sorry, I get so worked up about it.
Tonight I was looking at the newspaper online and saw that Garry was in jail since Sunday, so she called the Sheriff's office and he IS there, but she didn't ask how long he would be there, but she wanted Doug to take her home as soon as he got home at 10:30pm, so they are gone now. I don't expect him home for another 30 or 40 minutes. I have not told anyone because it wasn't my place to do so, but now that Janet called this morning to wish me a happy birthday and found out it was Margaret's birthday and she was here, it sort of let the cat out of the bag. By the way, Margaret's birthday is tomorrow, the 7th. You're mom was a day early.
Margaret lost a lot of weight during the last 4 years because she wouldn't eat when he would start yelling and carrying on. She told us her cholesterol was high is why she was losing weight, but she came clean when she started fighting back. You know she has false teeth now and she can't bite her fingernails, so they are super strong and she claws the crap out of him, makes him bleed like a stuck pig every time. She had an axe handle after him once, but because she is so small, he can get everything away from her and then starts hitting her with it. He has beat her with his crutches in the past, when she wouldn't fight back.
He is to be arrested if he goes to the Memorial hospital here and is not admitted because of all the times he has been and abused the system. He will be arrested for criminal trespassing. He is in jail right now for missing a court date for continuous violence against family. Margaret made the court date and charges were dismissed.
I just wasn't ready this last time for a housemate. I am still recuperating from surgery and my nerves are still unsettled, but I'm healing well. I think the whole crap with Margaret and Garry has me unsettled. Garry needs to be put in jail permanently! I think they let him out because he is obnoxious!
