Survival Server (Rant of the Week)

Many of you own a server or an admin on one. I am co-owner of one, and am admin on a couple servers. I like to go on Planet Minecraft to look for servers to play on, because sometimes flying around and doing whatever you want gets kind of boring sometimes. I look for small servers (about 10 slots) that have the faction plugin. I have tried out 5 in the last 2 days.
Rant Starts Now:


I hate it when people give away diamonds, sets of tools, or other items that help you get a head start in the game. It is called "Survival", not "give them free stuff and to help them survive". I was just on survival server, and they give you a full set of stone tools, 15 diamonds, leather armour, and 5 porkchops! When you leave the spawn to go into the war zone where PVP is enabled, people are going to kill you with their diamond swords they made 2 minutes ago when they joined. They kill you, take your diamonds and don't have to mine (which is basically the purpose of survival). I don't think servers should give out packages in survival servers if they're titled, "**<<HARDCORE PVP FACTION SURVIVAL SERVER>>**" Obviously that was an exaggeration, but I do see server titles like that sometimes. Maybe that'll be the topic for my next rant. (Server I was talking about in "Additional Credit")

I'm sorry, but I totally disagree. I actually think it's a great help for all of the stone tools to be given to you at the start, although I believe giving people diamonds is a bit too much. Anyway your entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine.

Most of the people that come onto my server ask if there are any starter packs, I'll say no and they'll leave. Same with other servers, If you don' have a starter pack, less people will want to play on your server because it's less free stuff. My brother for example, his goal in Minecraft is diamonds. After he finds and mines them, he starts a new world and does it again. I like to play Minecraft for the game, not the thrill of finding diamonds. That's all people want in Minecraft though, diamonds. And if you give people diamonds as soon as you start off, it gets really boring really fast. For some people, diamonds are great, it means you get to skip the whole wood to stone to iron step and get straight to the obsidian mining and stuff like that. I still stick to my opinion of starter packs not being my thing.

play.fantasticraft.net It's a faction survival server, but it's not up right now. I'll post again when we get it working.
