It was a cloudy, yet glorious day in Minecraft. Alex sat on her front porch watching the sunrise with her pet cat, Holly.
As the sun’s rays swept over the fields of flowers and potatoes, Alex planned out her day. “First I’ll go mining for diamonds!” she pondered, “Then I’ll go fishing, I love a good salmon dinner!” Holly meowed in agreement. Alex laughed as she walked toward the cave. “Ok, girl, I’ll save some fish for you! Stay there and wait for me!” Once inside the cave, she pulled out her trusty diamond sword. Then, thinking about it, changed the gamemode to peaceful. “That was easy!” she giggled. As she dug her way toward Y level 16, she paused. “Is that the sound of blocks breaking?” She hit escape and turned up her volume. Suddenly the noises died off, leaving the cave in complete silence and darkness. “Must be a bug,” she whispered, trying to assure herself, “No one else here, I’m in singleplayer mode.” She dug backwards into the side of the cave passage, trying to escape her fears. She barricaded the entrance, turned around, and cowered in surprise. A small room, the walls imbedded with diamond ore, met her eyes, and in the middle of it, a hole. “That’s strange, yet lucky for me!” Her fears subsided, she placed a torch and proceeded to mine all of the ore. Succeeding in that, she crouched down and looked in the hole, then staggered back in awe. The hole seemed to go down all the way into the void! No bedrock was in sight! “This MUST be a bug, like the farlands or something…” she shouted jubilantly “and I was scared over nothing!” Suddenly her speakers dispensed an odd sound, almost like wind, or a scratchy voice. She jumped, startled as her torch disappeared into nothingness, like smoke in the wind, and the room was thrown into darkness. As she hurriedly started to mine back into the cave vein, something hit her, so slight that she would have never noticed, except that it was just enough to push her into the abyss behind her! “AAAAAAAAAHHHHhhhhhhh….” She screamed, as her voice was muffled by the endless darkness of the void, engulfing her in pain and sadness. She respawned, in the dense jungle, with nothing but anger and bewilderment. “Why did I not spawn in my bed??” she gasped “My house!!! My cat!!” She raced with the speed of a cheetah and the loyalty of an enraged mother bear. As she jumped the river bend separating the jungle from the plains, she saw with a sinking heart flames coming from her house. As she came to a halt on the ashes of her house, she realized her cat was not around. “HOLLY!” She wailed, “DON’T TELL ME YOU’RE DEAD!” Suddenly, hearing footsteps behind, spun around. “WHA---?” Suddenly the death message splashed across the screen. Fuming, she was about to click respawn when she noticed what had been behind her. It looked like a Steve, but that was impossible, she was on singleplayer mode. But what caught her eye was the striking white pupils of the mysterious player. Suddenly she heard footsteps behind her. But in real life. She turned around, expecting to see her Mom yelling at her for being up so late. But all she saw was white, white, vacant pupils, staring at her. Intense pain followed. Then Nothing. You might ask, “Is she dead?” But no. She is alive, laying in a hospital bed, her family sitting around her, imploring her to awake from the coma. She hears them. But she cannot move or talk, though screaming with all her might, no one hears. And all she can see is those vacant white eyes, luring her into a state of insanity.
