IF YOU DIDNo T KNOWo ¦

Ores are special blocks imbedded underground somewhere. These blocks are distinct in the way that they are stone blocks with special bits of color. Each type of ore holds a different color and/or design. Currently, there are 7 ores to find. Each one was implemented at different stages of Minecraftian history. In order, they are: coal ore, iron ore, gold ore, redstone ore, diamond ore, lapis lazuli ore, and emerald ore. Ores also have a rarity level. Each one is different from the other. The order of ores from most common to rarest NATURALLY are: iron ore, coal ore, redstone ore, gold ore, lapis lazuli ore, diamond ore, and emerald ore.

Coal ore is a mineral block that is a common sight on almost all maps. The actual coal ore block can only be obtained with a pickaxe with Silk Touch. Mining a coal ore block yields 1 piece of coal. It is found at almost any elevation, from cliff faces, through underground caves and sea bottoms, down to bedrock. It is the only ore to appear well above sea level. Coal veins can vary greatly in size - mountaintop deposits are usually five blocks at most, but underground ones are generally at least ten blocks, and can range up to fifty or more. One can also acquire large amounts of experience by mining coal. A piece of coal can be mined directly from coal ore using a wooden, stone, iron, gold, or diamond pickaxe. Coal can be combined with sticks to make torches, or used as fuel in a furnace or minecart. When burned in a furnace, it smelts 8 items for each coal lump. Coal ore does not have a mineral block.

ironorepng

Iron ore is a mineral block that is found underground. It is the most common mineral and is widely used to make tools and armor. Iron ore requires a stone, iron, or diamond pickaxe to successfully mine. It yields the iron ore block, and therefore must be smelted in a furnace to create an iron ingot. Smelting iron ore and taking the ingots out of the furnace also yield experience orbs. Ingots are the items that are used in crafting. Iron ore occurs only at or below sea level (layers 1-64). On average, there are 84 blocks of iron ore per chunk. Veins can vary in size, though the most common size is a 2x2x2 cube. Iron ore has a mineral block.

Gold ore is a mineral block commonly found beside stone blocks deep underground, usually in a vein of 2 to 10 blocks (sometimes 18 or 1 depending on generator errors). Gold ore requires an iron or diamond pickaxe to successfully mine. It only appears in the bottom 32 layers of the map. On average, there are 7.5 blocks of gold ore per chunk. It must be smelted in a furnace and yield gold ingots and experience orbs) to be used in crafting. Some players nickname the ingots as butter because of the way it looks. Gold ore has a mineral block.

redstoneorepng

Redstone ore is the ore form that redstone dust takes when generated in a map. Redstone is the only ore in the game that is made up and not under the real life surface. It is a mineral with magnetic and conductive properties, as it is used in all circuitry and compasses. Redstone ore is found only below layer 14. On average, there are 25 blocks of redstone ore per chunk. The ore drops 4 to 5 lumps of redstone dust when mined with an iron or diamond pickaxe. The redstone ore block can only be obtained with a pickaxe with Silk Touch. The ore also forms in veins of 1 to 10 blocks. This makes redstone dust generally easy to collect. If one right/left clicks on, or an entity moves over/falls on redstone ore, the block will emit level 9 light and particles until it receives the next block tick (about 47 seconds). Redstone ore does not have a mineral block.

diamondorepng

Diamond ore is a mineral block generally considered to be one of the most valuable and elusive blocks in the game (not as rare as emerald ORE). It can only be mined with an iron or diamond pickaxe to successfully mine. When mined, diamond ore also yields experience orbs. The diamond ore block can only be obtained with a pickaxe with Silk Touch. Diamonds can be crafted into uncommon blocks, and the highest quality tools. Diamond ore can be found in veins of 1 to 10 blocks (sometimes 18 or 1 depending on generator errors) and only appears at the bottom 16 layers of the map. On average, there are 3.097 blocks of diamond ore per chunk. Diamond ore has a mineral block.

lapislazuliorepng

Lapis lazuli ore is an ore block that is used to make blue dyes and decorative blocks. Like coal, redstone, emerald, and diamond ore, the block yields the resource immediately after mining, requiring no smelting. It drops 4 to 8 lapis lazuli shards (and experience orbs), which can be used to dye wool, crafted into a block, or mixed with other dyes. The lapis lazuli ore block can only be obtained with a pickaxe with Silk Touch. Interestingly, it was the first ore block to have a different texture design than the other ores (emerald is the same way). Lapis lazuli is based off of a real ore that is known as a rare stone. Lapis can be mined with a stone, iron, or diamond pickaxe spawning at a depth of 31 and below. On average, there are about 3.43 blocks of lapis lazuli ore per chunk. Lapis lazuli ore has a mineral block.

emeraldorebpng

Emerald ore is a rare mineral block that drops 1 emerald (and experience orbs) when mined with an iron or diamond pickaxe. The emerald ore block can only be obtained with a pickaxe with Silk Touch. It was the first ore that is only generated in a certain biome: ExtremeHills/ExtremeHillsEdge. It also is the first ore that does not generate PURPOSELY in veins like the other ores do. It is often only seen as a single block. Like lapis lazuli, it has a different texture design than the other ores. Emerald ores generate between layers 4 and 32 and on average, 0 to 2 emeralds generate per chunk. Although it is the rarest naturally generated ore, it is still common. Why? Well, emeralds are common due to villagers using it as a currency. One can easily get several emeralds from a villager by collecting a certain random amount of a random item for the villager. This leaves diamond ore as the most prized ore in the game. Although, the ore block itself is considered to be one of the hardest blocks to obtain in the game, other than the dragon egg.

Quartz ore? Epic. Also, I sometimes get glitches where emerald ores spawn in forest biomes. xD
