Chapter 1
I awoke, my eyes blurry from a long slumber. I dragged my weary body up from the stone slab I had been resting on. As I looked around my eyes began to adjust to the low levels of light around me. I saw cracked stone walls, a dusty stone floor clad with a ripped and worn looking rug. There were no windows in the room, the only light source came from a fallen dulling wall torch.
Swinging my legs of the slab I began to feel the energy seep back into my body. I felt strong enough to stand. As my feet touched the ground and my weight filled my legs, I felt as if I knew this place.
It seemed familiar.
I stumbled forward and scooped up the torch, it embers falling slowly to the ground. Raising it I saw a tunnel with rough edges and a broken floor.
I suspected that the leather wraps on my feet wouldn't be the best protection against the harsh floor... But it was the best I had.
After several minutes of venturing forward in the darkness with a slowly dying torch, I saw light ahead of me.
Daylight.
Something I remember seeing.
But something I don't know when I saw last.
Before me lay a flimsy wooden door... pushing it open revealed a vast rolling landscape, engulfed by sunlight, grass and dirt.
The fresh air filled my lungs and the sunlight burned my eyes....
