Ah Minecraft Servers... Whenever we're Down, or when you just want to wreck someone in PvP, it's there for you. I'm here to talk about what Server Genres just seems Unoriginal to me, and yes, this is My Opinion. So we have those types of servers that we get Sick and Tired of, and I'm here to talk about those. So without further ado, lets get to it!
Factions:
Everybody just seems to hate these types of servers, and I still hate them to this day. Back then, I used to like Factions Servers, and it was fun. I did manage to make an Unstoppable Base, and it lasted about a Month, before it got raided by some doofbutts. Since there is now a Factions Plugin, people start to make their own, which turns out ending up as a Clone. They actually try to make it fun, but they just can't. To make a Factions Server Correctly, you can add your own twist to it, before people try to copy it. Some genius out there actually made a Crates Plugin, which it's a chest where you right click it with a key, and you can get a random item out of it. Eventually, there are some Copiers who just want either money or more players, which makes Crates seem to be spammed. Nobody ever notices it, and it seems like an Underrated Rant Topic with Crates, yet it's still being spammed. I know for a fact that a blog commonly doesn't change the world, but I just like to get my feelings out there.
Hunger/Survival Games:
You know the book (or movie), where a bunch of Teens fight to the death in an Enclosed Area? Well, some doofs are like "Lets make that book/movie a Server!" And what do you know, Clones Clones Everywhere... I've seen people complain about these servers on their blogs due to the fact that they're spammed, but not as much as Factions. Survival Games is literally a game where you grab things from the Cornucopia (or run) and look for chests, whereas Hunger Games you can build little bases and survive in the time provided. I think Hunger Games is more fun because it actually feels like the books. Survival Games is just a cheap way to get "Donations" and people, and I see it spammed by big YouTubers such as BajanCanadian, SkyDoesMinecraft, etc. I just wish they actually did Hunger Games instead of Survival Games. The Servers that are based around books that I see as underrated are the Warrior Cats servers. I in fact, love these types of servers, as they are Highly Original. "What's a Warrior Cats Server?" you may ask? Well, it's a server where you have to know what Warrior Cats is, or they ban you. But if you do know it, they'll quiz you, and if you pass, you get to choose your Fan Warrior Name and Fan Clan. Most Servers don't allow you to be Story Characters such as Firestar, and it seems more fair. Eventually it's just a Fun Roleplay server where you use the command "/me" to start roleplay chatting. These servers are Underrated, and I wish they were as Popular as Hunger/Survival Games Servers...
Prison Servers:
Ah Prison Servers... They are my favorite. "But Eli! If it's your Favorite Type of Server, why's it on here!?" Well, besides the fact that there is actually a goal and you get rewarded, it seems like another spammed type of server. The Spammed Prison Servers are basically servers that are OP with A-Z ranks. Like seriously? Did it have to be A-Z? This isn't Sesame Street!
Okay, What I'm saying is, people need to stop with the A-Z Ranks. They need to think of something original, instead of the Alphabet Soup Ranks. There's also a thing I actually like instead of OP Prison Servers. It's Called Classic Prison. It may be slow, but some servers actually add Roleplay to it to make it sound Interesting and with a story. They Have Original Ranks, and although some have A-Free Ranks, They aren't exactly A-Z Ranks, because they actually do A-D and then Free. By Free, they don't mean an Extra Mine and Prestige, no. They actually mean you get a Survival World to play in on Free. Some even use perks like Flying and stuff and it just seems epic in my eyes. You may have heard of a thing called Prestige... No!? Well, it's a thing where if you rankup after free, you get a little star (or other random symbol) next to your name and you have to start all over again. It's Pretty useless, especially when you don't get a boost from it. So yeah, you can easily make a Prison Server unique, just don't add the same Garbage to it like A-Z Ranks and stuff. It just makes the server feel bland and unoriginal.
Minigames:
These Minigame Servers are seen almost everywhere I go. Ever since Mineplex came around, everybody's trying to get a piece of it's pie. The problem is, the Minigames servers are Huge, and they like to copy off of Mineplex. Even the small servers like to do it! It's a flame war that nobody signed up for. The thing is, if you want to make a Minigames Server, make it unique. Make it have a story, make it have something that makes it stand out from the crowd. So I recommend you should do something original for Minigames, or else you will be like those Mineplex Clones out there...
The Verdict:
In Conclusion, I think it's quite hard to think of something that hasn't been done out there. When you think of this Majestic Idea that might work, it just flops. Soon one day, an Original Idea will open up and will eventually have everyone playing on it. The thing is, nobody uses any underrated plugins. Those plugins need attention, and once you get one, embrace it. There's also the internet if you can't think of any ideas, so yeah. I'm not saying you have to make an Original Server, you can be Unoriginal all you want, just don't make it so plaint and Obvious that it's a Clone. So, are there any Servers that I missed? EDIT: Wow. You created all those games without any plugins whatsoever? That's pretty cool! I'm digging the Invulnerable Chicken game with Ice Hockey, and the Dragon Says Game :D I'll definitely diamond it!
