The Nook is a species of humanoids with distinct owl-like features. The average Nook is 3'6" with blue eyes, light to dark plumage covering it's body, and wings, with tips seeming to be molded after the human hand.
Our first contact with this odd creature was in 1096. A group of men charting the Bermulian forests discovered a wooden structure held upon multiple tree branches. The leaves of each branch appeared to have been broken off individually, but current theories suggest that they can mix compounds that burn only leaves. Upon recording an image and few discoveries about the Nook, a hastily scribbled note was recorded by one of the cartographers, notating the demise of the entire group.
They're known to have short, conic beaks, made for a combination of crude conversation and the transportation of small objects. They can carry scrolls and books in there beaks, which leads us to believe that they have abnormally strong necks, and that their beaks are made of a protein not associated with a normal bird.
Their eye color is directly associated with their pedigree, with blue as dominant, and anything else considered a gift from whomever they pray to. We know little to nothing about their culture besides that they have a religious heiarchy, and that there appears to be multiple leaders at a time.
We believe Nooks to be omnivores, as they have killed and presumably eaten humans, and they have been seen eating leaves of the Gum Tree.
Soldiers have sighted Nooks throughout the past decade. Each of their reports have the same message, that the Nook had been watching them an had hopped off of the tree upon being noticed. This was the first recorded sight of a Nook in motion. Nooks prefer to use their remarkably strong legs over their wings. We suspect that they only use their wings in stalking prey, and that their legs are used as their primary weapon.
