"The Place Where Wishes Come True"
(PART ONE~)
There is a place known as the place where wishes come true. Some of the stories say it's a field. A field of flowers of all kinds, growing in the sun. Shallow lakes surrounding the area, with trees growing around it. Some call it paradise, But others believe this place is all made up.
"What do you believe, April?" Mom would always ask. "Do you believe there's somewhere like that out there?"
I was little when mom first asked that. Ten, maybe. I never knew what to believe, so I said
"It's where we'll be headed soon, isn't it?" I'd say, looking at her with a grin. "We'll be out of this cave, and we will have a perfect sized house in that place. Papa won't be sick anymore, and I'll have my own pet kitty!"
Mom always smiled when I'd say things like that. Why wouldn't you? It would be the dream life. Especially getting out of this dusty, dark cave. I was born in it. Mom and dad never said anything about how we had to become trapped in here, and I've always just wanted out. I never "enjoyed" anything about it, except for being with mama and papa. They were the ones who kept my under control, but now I can't even have them by my side.
Last year, dad was missing one morning. I had ran to mama, who was trying to cook parts of our last food we had left over a small fire. I asked her where he went, looking around urgently. She took my hand in hers.
"He's going to find the place where wishes come true. He's digging out of the caves, and we will climb out and live the life you've always wanted. But I must go and check up on him, soon. You have to stay here, April. Just until we know there is an exit. You know the dangers that lurk in this cave." She said. I nodded, and she held me close.
Suddenly, we heard a loud yell. It was dad, but we couldn't hear what he was saying. Mom ran through the caves, and I came running behind her. But she stopped me.
"I don't want you getting her. Just wait." she whispers, and ran through the dark caves, holding a large torch. Soon enough, that light disappeared.
I waited for days. Weeks. But they never returned. I cried for hours, alone, in this scary place supposed to be home.
