I didn't relly learn to PVP, I learned to run away though!

I am also a large pvper on servers. These tactics are pretty useful for people who are newer or less experienced with pvp. In all of my encounters, I usually never place blocks behind me and just run like crazy, but if you have lava on you, that could be extreamly helpful. Flint and steel seems to only help when your enemy is on the lower side for health. People use that on me a lot but I usually just run through it since they are walking backwards which is slower than me running at them. As a suggestion, using a higher more comfortable sensitivity can help you pvp. I use 125 which isn't much higher than the default, but turning and aiming faster can save your life in my instances.
