Yesterday afternoon, Mr. Shiver paid a visit to IGEBM, Si, and Storm at his mansion. He asked them if they knew of the Ritual of Heavenly Ascension, which they did, and then who would be willing to sacrifice themselves for the ritual. IGE screamed at him in shock at the question and he left. Storm suspected that would not be the last they would see of Shiver... unfortunately, he was right.

IGEBM gets up around 11:40 at night to use the bathroom. When he steps out of his room to walk down the hallway, he notices that the door to Storm's room is open, and panics. The writer rushes into the room and sees that the sheets are a mess and his friend is missing! What scares him the most, however, is the puddle of red ectoplasm on the bed. "Si!" IGE shouts, running out of the room down to Si's. He opens the door and shakes him awake. "What is it?" Si asks sleepily. Earlier today, they had packed all their things and put them in a homemade boat, which they moved into the harbor so they could leave the next day. "Storm's missing!" IGE answers.

As if he was splashed by a bucket of water, Si jolts to life and hops out of his bed. "His door was open, the sheets looked like he had been pulled out of bed, and there was red ectoplasm on the bed." "Shiver did it." Si says. "He has to be the culprit. He's probably gonna sacrifice him tonight or something." "Then let's get changed and go to the cave." IGE says, returning to his own room to change. Si closes the door to his and does the same. After they've changed and met up in the living room, the two of them leave the house with flashlights and venture into the night to save their friend.

In the cave, Mr. Shiver and his friends prepare for the Ritual of Heavenly Ascension. "Midnight is upon us." Martin Helsyth says, looking at the clock hanging on the wall. "Perfect." Shiver responds. He turns to the Axecutioner, who is guarding Storm, who is hanging upside down from the ceiling. "How's our guest?" "Probably not ready to die, but then again, who is?" the Axecutioner jokes. Storm screams for help, but the tape over his mouth muffles it. The Ferryman is kneeling on the ground, setting up the ritual. After he finishes drawing the pentagram (with a circle around it) in red chalk, he sets down the candles on each point of the star and lights them. Lastly, he jabs wooden stakes into the ground next to four of the points (on the inside of the pentagram). "Start tying him down, matey!" he says to the Axecutioner. The blue-cloaked spirit swings his axe and cuts Storm down, dragging him into the ritual circle and using the rope to tie him from his limbs to each of the stakes. As he does this, the Ferryman spots the Cyprezz medallion around their prisoner's neck. "I completely forgot about that rule. Guess we were lucky that we chose you."

"It's time." Helsyth says to Shiver as the clock hands near the "XII." The four ghosts stand around the pentagram, close their eyes, and join hands. "O great and mighty Cyprezz..." Mr. Shiver begins as the others join in. "...with this sacrifice of a true believer in your power, grant us safe passage through the gates of the afterlife so that we may bask in your holy power for all of eternity." He bends down as the thinnest hand on the clock is about to mark the start of October 31st, lighting both himself and a stake and allowing the flame to travel down the rope towards Storm's hand. "Not so fast!" a voice says. In the span of several seconds, two beams of light hit the ropes binding Storm's arms, allowing him to break free. "Yeah, I ain't dying today!" he says, shaking off a small amount of fire that got onto his pajamas. Shiver collapses on the ground, his spirit partially on fire, pulling the other ghosts towards him against their will.

TOMORROW, THE STORY CONCLUDES IN "ALL HALLOWS' EVE!"
