In the future, after the unknown apocalyptic event of North America disappearing, a nation in America known as Panem rose consisting of twelve poor working districts all in poverty and a very wealthy capitol.

Twenty four children/teenages between the ages of twelve and eighteen fight off in a arena to the death. with 2 kilometres radius, if a person tries to escape they will die under the control of the game makers,the game makers are people on conputers which can put animals in the game, send objects/weapons/food/medicine even cause trees to grow/fall or erupt into flames and many other thing which would not be necessary to mention.

The teenagers or children are picked by putting their name in a bowl, one for girls one for boys everybodies name goes in once but there is an advantage to putting your name in the bowl more the once.The more times you put your name in the bowl the more food/water the person and/or his family will get.
