Hello! Today I bring you some simple tips & tricks to starting up your Minecraft server.

Buying It
If you are really looking into getting a popular server, you'll want a payed 24/7 Server from a server host. If you don't want to pay for it, feel free to Port Forward. This is an alternative, but a bad one because it can't be 24/7, but only be started whenver your computer is on. Here are a few Server hosts you could use:

GGServers
MCProHosting
Cubedhost
BisectHosting

I personally like GGServers because of its Cheap and reliable services.

Pre - Public Server

Yes, you actually have to do work before you open it up to the public. First, you need to pick your server type. Weather it's Survival, creative, factions or anything else you'd like to have your server as. Once you picked that, you'll need the proper plugins. For example, for factions I'd get plugins Such as the Factions plugin, MCMMO, CustomEnchants and CombatLog. Configuring the plugins to your needs may be hard and some plugins may be trickier than others. But don't worry and don't give up. What I did was think about the end results and how amazing it's going to be. There are also plenty of videos out there explaining how to configure a certain plugin. After you do that, you'll need to find some trustworthy friends to be staff. I luckily had 4 friends able to help me out while starting my server. After you do all of this, it's almost time to open up your server. Make sure you have everything ready so when players come on there is nothing to complain about. You should have ranks and donator ranks ready so if somebody decides to donate, they don't have to wait. You should also get a Foruns where players will be able to post threads and such and apply for staff. I use Enjin.

Good set of rules. You need rules for your players to follow or else they'd be confused and the server would be chaos.

Once you are ready to open the server publicly, you should advertise. Don't advertise on other servers or you'll get banned, muted or more. And the players that join your server will just swear and grief and more on your server. I recommend advertising on websites such as PlanetMinecraft, MinecraftForum, Minecraftservers.org and more. Remember to tell your players to vote!

After you've advertised your butt off, you should get a few donations if you've been nice and kept adding things to show that your server is steadily improving. Use this money wisely, as it can lead to the end of your server. What I mean is, if you go straight to a hub with these donations, you won't have money for the regular server and your whole server would go down in flames.

More coming soon!
If this helped you, remember to comment suggestions have what to post next! I'll be working on a parkour map soon.

I feel like this article promotes the scumy side of server owner ship such as begging for votes on pmc or other sites, having donator perks at all, and advertising outside of the daily bumb you can get on pmc.  It also seems that you brushed over the actuallyhard parts of getting a server set up like spawn building, plugin configuration, and setting up permissions.  That is just my point of view though, feel free to do what you want with this article but I hope you will consider what I have to say about server ownership.
