A lot of new blocks and items have been added.
The build up to Minecraft 1.5 ('the redstone update') is tense and we can not wait until the update.

From mojang:
Time for a new snapshot! The major changes are:

Textures for blocks and items now have individual image files (read more below)
Improved death messages
Improved naming (using the anvil) of containers and mob eggs
Trapped chests now give off the redstone signal through walls
Improved hoppers and made them controllable by redstone
Updated language files
Language files can now be updated via the background downloader (no need for a new Minecraft release)

Quartz Blocks-A new decorative block that comes in 3 different styles; plain, chiseled and as a pillar block.
They look very awesome, go very well with birch blanks and in my opinion look like they are from Greek architecture.

Item Hoppers-Have been fixed.

Minecarts with tnt-Minecarts are now craft-able with TNT to make the ultimate kamakazi weapon. They are detonated by a new minecart rail called an activation rail.
