First of all, I just want to say, I know this has been done before, but I want to publish my thoughts....
Every day, on PMC, hundereds of new servers are published, if you scroll through the new servers part, your finger will start to hurt before you even get to last week!
The problem is; It's killing all the good servers. Don't get me wrong, a few small Factions/Raiding/MMO servers need to be published so people can go and play with a small community, but now just the word 'Unique Factions, McMMO, Raiding, PVP' are making me sick now, the problem is: they're not unique. They're not, they just aren't, don't be that person who makes a factions server in a day, publishes it and thinks it's unique.
But because people are spending 1-2 days creating these servers, with a mediocre square spawn, 3 public plugins, and calling it unique, your drowning the real unique servers, it's really killing minecraft for me, and I'm sure a lot of other people. So many hub servers are coming around now, some are bad, some are good, some are as good as Hypixel's when it first came out, but you wonder why you've spent hundereds of dollars setting up this server and making $15 back? It's because these small, not-thought-out servers are drowning your submission, nobody will notice you! If you set that server up 2 years ago you could have 1000 players on daily now and making thousands of dollars profit!
However those days are gone I think.
It annoys me that people, like me, who are spending months, even years, and a lot of money developing a server, with custom plugins and amazing builds, are not getting any credit, simply because nobody finds them! You must remember the days of minecraft where a new server would go up and you'd have 30 regular players off the bat!
The thing that prompted me to do this blog (as you can probably tell, I'm no blogger) is that I went on to a small Factions/Raiding server, when I saw a massive amount of players and donators it startled me, their spawn was small, square, boring, they had no custom plugins, the staff we'rent particularly great, and yet when I went on to their website, they had made nearly €30000, how! How did that happen!
The answer was that they had opened 2 years ago, and over the time had hundereds of dedicated players. I feel it kind of sucks that nobody will get this kind of feeling anymore of having a successful server, even after pledging years too it.
Obviously I don't expect that this will stop everyone setting up 1-day servers and putting an end to the rut that multiplayer minecraft is in but I hope it will sort of raise awareness of it and that some people will listen!
Just remember before you open your server, that no matter how much you think it, you won't turn your server into a successful server or business at the moment, not with so much of this going on.
Thank for reading guys, Diamond and Subscribe if you agree/enjoyed it :)
