this will be a short tutorial regarding the making of minecraft skins!(do note i suck at explaining)
yay

colours-
  • ok so for colours, number one is hueshifting!(in case you dont know wot it is it is pretty simple. If u observe smth's shadows, it isnt the same colur but darker but instead another colour. do that like uh blue darkens up into purple and red to pink like uh smth like that, if u want u can find another video or blog of some1 else regarding this)
  • learn some colour theory from a couple videos like this or this
  • use tints! u can use the pmc editor and reduce the opacity of the colour of the tint
  • u can also use photo edittors to help with ur colours! i like pixlr quite a bit
  • use a diversity of colurs and skin tones to your skins!
  • to fit ur theme, warm(red yellow etc) brighter and more saturated colours show energy and happiness and cold(blue green etc) desaturated are the opposite
  • you can use reference and look at bigger creators! just dont copy their colours

shading-
ok ik everyone is only waiting for this but let me just talk about my sponser rAiD sHa-
  • never ever use pancake shading(lightest colour is in the middle and darkest in corners)
  • for hair, hair is not a single block(irl atleast) so shade it like that. hair types also differ(straight being easy to do, curly not so much)
  • dont use the same shading for every skin becuase clothes, clothes types, etc differ and thus use different shading depending on that
  • darker parts are towards inner arm and legs, top of torso and bottom or torso and forehead of head if bangs are present
  • try lightsourcing in which u shade the skin in which there is the lightsource in a different angle. it is a great challenge!
  • loose clothes fold so add that
  • experiment and try new styles
  • if u dont like the shading of a skin, keep adding details! helps a ton
LIGHT SOURCING

Yeah so it's the one and only Eshii and I'ma give you all the reasons why you should totally use light sourcing

#1: It makes my eyes very happy and want to consume your skins
#2: Easy way to make it look like you know what your doing when you skin
#3: It's pretty
#4: it gives you clout pretty much uhm not from personal experience cough cough
#5: I- please very much please. I beg of u

Imagine a little sun in the corner of ur skin. Or at the bottom. or on the sides. wherever really

then imagine the places where your skin would get shadows.

for example, if the light was from the top, then the main shadows would be under the head and on the neck, in-between the torso and arms, underneath the shirt.... etc.

just imagine a... say phone. if a light was shone from the top of it, then the shadow would be under the phone. and if you have a case, it would be underneath where the case and the phone touches.

it's always a good idea to combine light sourcing and hue shifting to give a nice pleasing look.

will be adding more soon!
