Have you ever lost in a PVP and lost all of your hard earned resources? If so, don't worry because this guide will ensure that this never happens to you again. If this really never has happened to you, this article is still important so that it never does.
Basic Rules
Rule #1: Travel lightly: Do not carry lots of stuff with you when an encounter with another player is a possibility. This would be a big mistake! Imagine if you were carrying diamond and you got ambushed and killed. How annoyed and saddened would you feel? Don't do it. Only take what is necessary. The necessary things to take include, armour, a sword (possibly a bow too,) food and a very small stack of building material just incase you fall down a hole or need to get to a high up point.
Rule #2: Nervous glancing: In Minecraft, looking over your shoulder will save your life. For all you know someone could be following you at any given time waiting to kill you before you can even react.
Rule #3: Follow the leader: If you think you can get some not-so-smart-cookie to follow you, take full advantage of it! Lure them out into the wilderness, a place where they will struggle to get away, and kill them. You may feel mean at first but don't... you've just taught them a very valuable lesson about trust and following someone they don't know. Besides, if you don't do it someone else will.
Rule #4: Know the route: When you're in doubt you should always know the way out. If you were stealing from someones house from example you should get out of there as fast as you can, taking as much as you can before they can PVP you. You do this by making sure you know exactly how to escape.
Simple Tactics That Will Save Your Life
Tactic #1: The Run'n'jump: When you are certain of PVP battle and are charging towards one another then you should use one simple trick that could get you a win. When running towards eachother, instead of stopping when you have reached the other player, keep holding the 'w' key and jump spin round to hit them from behind. This could also help you to get an easy start on Tactic #2
Tactic #2: You spin me right round, baby right round: When fighting someone don't stay in one place hitting them. You make it too easy for them to hit you by doing that. You need to run around the opposing player and jump as you do it so that they find it difficult to get a hit on you but you, however, find it very simple. If you are on the receiving end of this tactic just run backwards and then foward again whilst hitting.
Tactic #3: Taking the non-moral highground: Being higher than your opponent could be an advantage or a disadvantage. You have to try and make it work. By being higher you can just hit down on the player. I, personally though, prefer being lower. The player then has to try to avoid falling down too and look over the block they are standing on. Therefore, they have to worry about more things while you just stand there hitting.
Other Tips
Tip #1: Splish Splash: Do not use splash potions. Although they may seem and sound good... they're not. They slow you down and stop you from getting potential hits as well as mean getting more hits from the opponent in the wasted time.
Tip #2: The chase: When being chased by an opponent do not climb vines/ladders. Although it may work in movies, this does not help you much. It slows you down and could risk you taking a fall. Keep on the ground where you're probably harder to be seen rather than in the top of a tree or on the top of someone's base. Also, when running do not look behind you. That also slows you down. Just run and don't look back.
