Hello Planet Minecraft!


My name is J.S. Johnson, but y'all may know me better as OrlandoQuinn, or the Sexy Man Johnson, or AwesomeFuckingDudeGuy. I go by many names and live many lives. Professionally I'm an Independent filmmaker and I have produced three independent feature films, one of which I directed myself. My films have screened at the Cannes Market and I am a winner of the Canada International Film Festival's Royal Reel Award. I also wear dresses sometimes, but that's beside the point.

Today I wanted to talk about Lets Plays, or more specifically Minecraft Lets Plays. For the past four or five months I've been making my own LP's. It has been joyous fun, a real romp in a pixelated Jungle, however due to the deadlines of my other projects, and a dying PC, my dreams of youtube stardom have all but come to an end. Regardless, I feel that my time in the magical world of Let Plays has taught me a lot of valuable lessons that I may one day, in the far future, pull out of my bum hole and place on paper... Until then I have Planet Minecraft.

I first want to point out that I'm still confused by the average age of the Minecraft Lets Play viewer. I set out to make Lets Plays for an older audience, however I ended up with the same 12-15 yrld viewer that most minecraft youtubers entertain. What is most confusing about this, to me anyway, is that a good portion of popular creators are older, or at least above the legal age. So what I can't figure out is where the older viewers are. They must be somewhere right? Are they still in the process of coming out of the nerd closet? Or are they too afraid to watch minecraft videos on their own youtube accounts for fear that their lady-friend will pop onto their PC to watch the latest Maroon 5 video and find o Minecraft: Survival islando on their recently watched? If so I understand, It was a long time before I came out to my girlfriend, and to be honest, it would have been easier to tell her that I enjoyed boy bits up my bum. She may have looked at me more fondly afterwords.


I think I'm fucking hilarious. Sometime I make myself laugh so hard I pee my pants, however that usually only happens after I've consumed a lot of beer. I get a lot of flack for laughing at my own jokes, also for watching my own youtube videos, or watching my own movies. People tend not to think highly of people who enjoy themselves, but I think it's essential. You're your own worst critic right? Therefore if you enjoy your own content it must be good. Take visual artists, painters, and illustrators for example. They look at their creations all the time, they pin it up on the wall and even tell their friends how cool they think it is... as they stare lustfully into it... and that's acceptable behaviour. So If that's acceptable why can't I play one of my Minecraft LP's as I plunk-away writing a self absorbed article to post on Planet Minecraft?

See what I did there? More self promotion! I self promote all the time, but I'm a covert promoter, I like to slide it into conversations or pickup lines. My favourite is; o I'm on IMDB.o Unfortunately it never seems to work on the ladies...
