This is a new idea that I saw on reddit a couple of days ago. I though I would share it with you guys.
With this method, all the player has to do is stand on a block with no pressure plate on that block and a redstone circuit will activate. This is possible with the experience balls.
Since experience balls come towards you, we can use this in the following way. Since items can trigger wooden pressure plates, we put some experience balls underneath the ground. The player walks to the gold block (which has a wooden pressure plate under it) and the experience ball follows the player. When the player reached the gold block, the experience ball falls on the pressure plate therefore powering redstone.
I hope that this made sense to you guys. I am currently experimenting with this and trying to find the perfect way to do this. Thanks for reading :)
