So, the never ending comments like
'Minecraft was better in Alpha'
or
'Minecraft sucks goat balls now, Notch ruined it xdddd'
But why? People like me that agree Minecraft was better back in Alpha, and we try to fabricate some reason of why we are right. We always loose.
No matter how deep-hearted our argument, the number of people who disagree just stomp all over our points with brute force. Also, it hurts - that's where the flame wars begin.
I think I have finally discovered the true reason why us Alpha fans miss it so much. It's not the feeling of nostalgia everyone brushes it off as. Its something more. Not really the simplicity. Not anything but this core idea;
Minecraft could be.
In Alpha, Minecraft could be. Could be what? Could be anything. A small team that got very involved with the community developed Minecraft. We all hoped that Minecraft would have Dragons, or something. Anything.
There was hope. But now it's gone. It's been realised. The ideas have been set in motion, and now they are in the game us alpha fans have gotten somewhat 'bored'. Not saying we are bored, more or less the idea that we have what we want, but what now?
There really is no point to the things being added now as back when we joind the community was so small we ususally had a general consensus of what we wanted. Someone said Dragons? DRAGONS! Someone said a shelf? Eff that. Now it's a "WE NEED THIS, HUNGAR MOAR SEEDS BETTAR GENERATION MOAR END STUFFZ".
The new players are practically experiencing what we once did. You see Minecraft as a game that could go anywhere, when we see that it has reached its destination.
To me, Minecraft has lost it's mystery. What is around that corner?
Now it's 'LOLOLOL F3 XRAY XDDDDD'
Remember hearing that calm music when looking at the sunset on a hill?
Feel free to argue below.
