I think everyone can universally agree that the wandering trader has terrible trades. What do YOU think Minecraft should have the Wandering Villager trade?

A sharpness 1000 diamond sword, of course. No seriously i think it wouldn't be a bad idea to make it trade froglights and make it use gold nuggets instead of emeralds. I would be thinking about removing it if he wasn't a source of leashes.

Oooo, the froglights is actually a pretty good idea considering how much of a pain it is to find a swamp sometimes.

Universally, it's hard to agree on what the Wandering Trader should trade.

I think the Wandering Trader should have trades that change based on the player's xp levels, advancements, or time played in a world. Basically, the trader would offer items that better suit what the player could use at their current state of progression. Saplings, coral blocks, and ice might be good for someone who hasn't explored all the biomes nor has attained proper enchantments yet. Just replace the emeralds with something the new player can easily provide early in-game. Once they have got all that good stuff though, like diamond armor, enchantments, and biome-specific blocks, the Wandering Trader could raise its prices and offer more valuable items like nautilus shells, name tags, invisibility potions, and just maybe even armor trims.

Personally, I think it would be cool if they offered more unique or biome-specific items that are harder to find or craft, making their visits something to look forward to. For example, they could trade rare seeds, saplings, or even items related to the new updates, like archaeology artifacts or deep dark items, once those features are fully introduced.

  • Nautilus shells are pretty populous throughout the world, unlike biome specific blocks/plants so no need.
  • Packed and Blue ice already sold
  • No need for honeycombs because 1. people wont insert their hands straight inside of a hive and anger the bees inside and 2. Hives are also pretty much everywhere as long as you have some kind of forest biome.
  • Invis pots and name tags are good
  • Witch loot is definitely not realistic
  • Ruined portals aren't rare enough to justify a trade
  • They dont sell things cheaper because the people who buy stuff from wandering traders NEED them (for practical or decorative use). Simple supply and demand economics
  • Exotic/already prepared food items is nice

I'd rather see the wandering trader removed entirely as it seems to serve little purpose.
Providing in-game means of making all the various blocks renwable would be preferable to the formally only renwable status of things like coral blocks.
In the other direction, the various sapling sales seem antithetical to MS/Mj's attempts to push world exploration.
[This mob actually seems like a kluge to fix an issue with some platforms having world sizes small enough that some biomes might well not generate is a specific seed.]

Eh, as little of a purpose it has, it has much more purpose than most of the mobs in minecraft and are mostly realistic (they existed irl in great amounts).

Sapling sales alone, rather stops only some builders from exploring. In addition, a majority of builders and people in general (unless you're an explorer) are not patient enough to travel 10k blocks to find a specific sapling/wood (and sometimes a common biome or multiple do only exist starting from that far away).
