For the first time in Week in Review history, the best structure has been made by the same builder two weeks in a row.  This week, MrBatou has created Emerald Heart, a massive castle sitting atop a vast mountain range.



The palace consists of a series of domes, all of which bear a distinctive wintergreen color.  Every surface is layered with rich detailing and extensive patterning.



The thing that really stands out in this build is the uniqueness of each component.  Virtually no two domes are the same shape/size, and most of the structures are completely unique.  It’s quite refreshing to see a structure that wasn’t heavily constructed with MCedit.



Add to that a vast, mountainous landscape (courtesy of ParkVador), as well as some spectacular statues (supplied by GabrielPetroff), and you have a tremendous fusion of structures, terraforming, and organic work.  It’s a project that requires various skill sets, and it’s very impressive and rare when they converge.

The best terraforming of the week, and possibly the craziest project ever posted to PMC was When Ducks Gone Wild, created by LesCailles.  This is a map that makes about as much sense as the title itself.



Before I get into the analysis, I’d like to quote something from the description of this project: “no drugs have been used during building this map”.  Now, in my experience when somebody says ‘no drugs were used’, that’s usually code for ‘drugs absolutely were used’.  The only question that remains is: what drugs were these guys using?



Based on the ultra-vivid color patterns, and the truly random and (sometimes) manic organic figures, I’d venture to guess that a combination of LSD and quaaludes were used during the construction of this map.  I can’t imagine that’s a pleasant combination of chemicals, but the results are pretty impressive.



I could try to sift through the insanity, and analyze every individual component, but I don’t think there’s much of a point.  What does a giraffe, a toilet, and a giant sandwich have in common?  Pretty much nothing.  All I know is I’ve seen some things that cannot be unseen.



LesCailles was kind enough to provide all kinds of profound images that are sure to leave their mark on you for life.  There’s a gigantic pony who’s apparently getting a colonoscopy via a school bus, an apple that’s sprouted butterfly wings hovering over the plains, as well as a horse smoking a cigarette.  To the untrained eye, these things may just seem like crazy ideas spouted from a syphilitic brain, but to the- oh, who am I kidding?  These things are crazy ideas spouted from a syphilitic brain.



This map exists in a world where dolphins float about for no reason, where canyons bear a color pattern consistent with the aftermath of a giant paint can exploding and showering the earth, and where every animal appears to be irradiated.



Well done, LesCailles.  You’ve created something so mind-numbingly demented, that it actually leaves me (yes, me) at a loss for words.  You are officially crazier than I am.  That is no small feat.  Congratulations, you marvelous lunatic, you!

The best organic work of the week was The Last Breath, Nati797_’s final project.  Why is it Nati797_’s last project?  Because this project is Nati’s application to the LordBlock build team.  I imagine LordBlock’s response to this project was something along the lines of ‘Yep, welcome aboard’.



Nati797_ was kind enough to include lore for this project, so for once I don’t have to make crap up.  Basically, this is a Greek city, and the evil God of the underworld, Hades, has decided he really doesn’t like it.  He wants to tear it down and build a strip mall.  That fiendish rapscallion!



However, unlike mortals who usually just send some bulldozers and wrecking balls, Hades sends meteors, cyclopes, hydras, and a giant magmatic demigod.  The result is a terrifying calamity that words can barely describe.



The map is filled to the brim with amazing visuals.  The hydra is terrifying, the volcanic rock is embedded with disturbing, ghoulish faces, and the monstrous lava titan is just about the last thing you want to see towering over your city.  I can’t help but interpret this as an epilogue to The Cabin in the Woods.



Overall, this is one of the most chaotic things I’ve ever seen on this site.  Tremendous work, Nati797_!  Good luck with LordBlock!
