So this is my first time writing something like this on Planet Minecraft. It's for PersonWhoPlaysMinecraft's Weekly Writing Challenge. (Picture credit)



Ember glared at his brother, Aspen. The two angry immortals had finally decided to settle their dispute through violence in the forest. "Brother, it's not too late to change your ways. Help the humans, instead of murdering them!" Aspen yelled. "Silence! You were always with the weaker ones," Ember roared back. "I will not stop until I burn them all to the ground!" A nearby volcano released a threatening plume of smoke. Aspen knew the volcano would erupt at any moment, and lava would be spewing onto the village below. Ember was only delaying him from reaching it. Decisions had to be made, and fast.


Aspen summoned the cold inside of him and blew a torrent of frosty breath at his brother. Ember stumbled back as the ice melted into water against his flaming withers, and he let out a cry of agony. Aspen ran desperately to the volcano, but a wall of fire appeared in front of him. He turned to see Ember spewing another tremendous amount of fire. Unlike Aspen who summoned his power from his entire body, Ember drew his power from his fiery heart. The anger and hatred burning in his heart fueled his power greatly. Aspen leaped to the side as the fire caught on a tree. "What have they done to you Ember?" The ice tiger cried out. Ember remained silent and instead shot more fire. But then, the ground began to quake.


The tigers stumbled and staggered across the shaking land. "It's too late! The volcano is beginning to erupt!" Embar snarled. Suddenly, a cloud of poisonous gas floated towards them at an alarming rate. "Ember run!" Aspen screamed and dashed into the forest. Ember stood there stubbornly, confused at his brother's fear. Then, he breathed in the poisonous gas. Ember choked and fell to the ground. "Ember look out!" Aspen screamed once more. Coughing, Ember looked up to see a flood of lava racing towards him. Aspen ran back up to his brother's side. "Fool! Get out of here, save yourself!" Ember croaked, his throat dry and inflamed due to the gas. "Together, brother!" Aspen declared, and took a deep breath. Aspen began blowing a steady stream of ice onto the lava. Ember immediately understood what his brother was trying to do, and faltered to his paws.


The two tiger brothers blew together at the lava, Ember's fire melting Aspen's ice into water right before it hit the lava. Slowly, the lava began to cool into hard rock. Soon enough, all the lava was gone. Ember looked into Aspen's ice-blue eyes. "Why...why did you save me? You... you would've won." Ember whispered. Aspen stared back into Ember's blazing eyes. "No matter what war, even if we are against each other, you will always be my brother," he responded. A crack of a stick caused the tigers to look at the forest.


A little girl emerged, her face and clothes streaked with ash. "Aspen!" she cried and ran towards the ice tiger that was much larger than her. "Nala!" Aspen called and ran towards her. The girl, or Nala, wrapped her arms around Aspen tightly. Ember watched, surprised that a human worried for his brother. Aspen turned towards Ember and said, "I know fire and ice are meant to never get along. Will you help me change that?" Ember thought carefully and answered his brother, "No." Aspen seemed surprised and opened his mouth to talk but Ember continued, "I still have much to learn, brother. I will return when I am as wise as you." Aspen nodded a goodbye as Ember walked in the forest.
