Confession time:
I love builds for their aesthetic qualities. The shapes, the colors, the way everything runs together so perfectly, but sometimes I have to admit it all can be quite annoying.
There are certain builds that we expect to be visually stunning and detailed like
Personally I love airship builds. Some of the most annoying ones I've downloaded were those ones by the giant master builders everybody knows. They look incredible and I sure will never be able to do anything that comes close to what they do. What really gets me though is how so many are just hollow models or have extremely bland interiors with almost nothing in them but like a big magnificent looking hallway down the middle with maybe a few branching off. Only problem with that is that a fancy hallway isn't what I'm looking for when I'm searching for an airship. They look incredible on the outside but that's about all there is to them: little to no imagination is spent on the interior and no intention on ever having any.
Does that mean they're bad builds? Of course not.
Does that mean the builders didn't work themselves to death making it? Of course not.
So what am I saying? I'm saying that sometimes we want something different or something extra.
What am I getting at? Mechanics. The ability to actually interact with the build in some way. Redstone, command blocks, spawners, books and signs, storylines, all these things are common in builds like adventure maps and minigames, but why can't they be incorporated into some of these master builds too?
Currently the Minecrafters who get the most attention are usually the ones who have the best presentation and the best looking build.
An entirely separate skill is required to make a compact piece of redstone machinery, but the result is anything but giant and beautiful looking. In fact that's exactly what the goal is to not do. While there are many popular redstone engineers on places like youtube doing their tutorials, sites like planetminecraft seem to be dominated by the artistic who cause said engineers to be overlooked in the projects section.
Writers can't speak much more of themselves either. They're usually confined to the blog and description sections of the site, but not as often the actual build itself. Those who are often don't have the visuals of their maps up to par with the artists and people certainly have less of a use for them than the engineers who can teach redstone builds that can apply to other builds rather than just a specific mechanism for an adventure map.
It's gotten to the point where I'm actually starting to get a little worn out of seeing these masterpieces.
So how does everybody else feel on this? Am I just being picky or are there others thinking the same things?
Can we maybe see master builders start adding interaction to their builds? Maybe do it as a three way collaboration between an artist, a mechanic, and a writer? After all, this is a video game so it should play just as good as it looks. Or are we just going to see creation after creation of beautiful works of art that are just beautiful works of art that eventually get forgotten and swept away in the ocean of beautiful works?
Can we balance aesthetics with interaction?

There are certain builds that we expect to be visually stunning and detailed like
- statues
- server spawns
- cities
- castles
- landscapes
- anything with that painfully overused word "modern" in it

Anyway, what are you still mad about? Your map was restored over a week ago.
If it was one of my older ones then its interior was most likely a huge mess/maze since none of it was planned (I don't build like this anymore)
If it was one of my newer ones then it probably didn't have much interior at all since I'm still designing/building most of it but it's planned this time in a way that you don't get lost in
