Who nerfed the enchantments? (Rant)

I was trying to make a enchant on a diamond sword... i wanted
Fire Aspect I
Knockback I
Sharpness I.
it took Me 20 minutes to gather the exp for all of it and get all of these diamond (in 12w08a no tmi) it took me 40 minutes.

Who the hell nerfed enchantment i got a level 15 enchantment and it gave me sharpness II. i wonder why it took me 17 levels of exp and about 15 bookshelves and a table.
Jeb please make enchantments better please i just want get get a decent blade.

Jeb is planning to make the max level from 50 to 30 so it is easier to get the highest level also he is making it so the bottom option shows the highest level

Considering your running 12w08a, I wouldn't worry about it. That's a pre-release, so nothing is final in it. For all we know, there will be a "fix" to a problem like this.
Also, as a side note, you can change the language file for the glyphs so you can know what enchantment you are getting prior to clicking on it.

Anything, so long as you have the correct file to do so. It's kind of hit and miss, at the moment, as you may get a random set of english words (if changed to english, that is) to complete english gibberish. I personally haven't change the glyphs language, but there are others that have. Here is a YouTube video I found for changing it to english. Although, like I said, this is hit and miss as I have recently found (sorry for the confusion, but as I said, I have never done it personally) there is a decoder you can use here.

Uh.. Enchantments are already extremely over powered, why would you want it easy to get one? Besides.. Sharpness 1 < Sharpness 2, last time I checked :p

it might just be my minecraft because i surrounded it with bookshelfs to make it more powerful but i only got 5 - 13 17 was a lucky one

Mmm.. Enchant at level 10, that should give you the best chance for the sword you want.. Not that I know why you would want a weak sword like that :p

Look at the chart on this wiki:
http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Enchanting
You can get knockback I at level 10, at the earliest.
You can get Fire Aspect I at level 5, at the earliest.
You can get Sharpness I at level 5, at the earliest.
So 10 would be the best, it appears anyways.. Too bad there's math involved, and I'm lazy..
