Has you're friend, or just someone you know ever said, "Minecraft sucks!" ? Well, I am going to give you a few reasons why they think Minecraft sucks.
1. - They haven't played it.
That's right. Most people who dis-like Minecraft have not even tryed the game out. I remember that once, I was just like one of them. I was eating lunch, on a boaring school day in 4th grade, and my friend was like, "Gabe, have you ever played Minecraft?" and I was like "No, sounds stupid." He kept trying to get me to download the Demo, when I finally gave in. I couldn't stop playing though. It was so fun. Within the 2nd week, I bought an account. That's just one example. A lot of the time, people just don't know how addicting the game can actually be. And not just that, but how fun it can be. And how creative. There is a nice community to. PMC is a good example of one.
2. - Graphics.
To most people who play Minecraft, the graphics don't matter. I mean, you can even get resource packs. But seriously, if you haven't played Minecraft, and you compare COD and Halo to it, you would not vote for Minecraft. But once you actually play the game, you become one of the people who doesn't care about the graphics. I mean, the graphics in Star Craft were pretty bad, but people still loved it. Star craft II - Wings of liberty was awesome, but those were great graphics. Anyways, my point is, people will normaly sterio type games because of their graphics.
3. - The Name.
Why would people not like Minecraft at first sight because of the name? Well, simple, pretend you're playing COD with you're friend, and they say "Have you ever heard of Minecraft?" You casually say, "No." Now think. Why didn't you go try it out? It sounds to weird. "Minecraft?" It sounds like MindCraft, so you may think it's some kind of IQ. It also just sounds so err...Not very attention grabbing. This is how I felt when my friend told me about the game. I was like, "Sounds stupid, what a dumb name, 'Mindcraft'" I did think it was called Mindcraft, because when you first hear it, it really does sound like that.
4. - Rants.
Some of them may have read some rans on Minecraft. They may have read someone's sad story of how they got bullied, or raided, and miss inturperted Minecraft as some sort of excuse to go out of you're way to bully some 8 year old, who will just go rant on a website about how stupid the game is. Or maybe they heard some persons story of how they lost a friend because of Minecraft, which a lot of this is pretty rare (except the bullying part). And so they thought to them selfs, "I really don't want to lose my best friend because of some stupid game!!!" and decided not to play, and post a rant as well, which leads to more people like them. Who haven't even played the game.
5. - Life Changing
Took me a while to come up with a title for number 5. So, shall we explain this one? NO...Fine...
So, most people who play Minecraft become utterly adicted to it, and never want to stop playing it. Well, you can just limit you're time on the computer, or just on Minecraft in general to stop that. But some people just think that if you start playing the game, you will literally NEVER EVER want to stop, and you're life will be sucked right out of you. Maybe that is true in some cases, but not most. I play soccer, and I also get good grades in school, and yet I still play Minecraft. Sure, it did impact my life a lot, but in a good way, it inspired me to make mods for the game, which tought me programming. Now I can program in many different programming languges such as: DOS, HTML, HTML 5, Java (obviously), Javascript, And man this list could go on forever. Usually Minecraft will change you're life in a good way.
