Why do Enderman Teleport?
Enderman teleportation is just a convinience. They wanted to show off thier Endermanly skills to the Enderwoman. They walk from place to place all day, explaining why they're so thin. They complain to the EnderDragon all day everyday. (This is just an expression, of course. There's no day in the End!)
The EnderDragon was overwhelemed with all these complaints. This distracted him from defeating Steves in the End, so he invented the EnderPearl. They are stored in Enderman hearts and souls, enabling them to teleport around your map.
If the Enderman is able to date an Enderwoman, the Enderman gives her his heart and soul. Now the Enderwoman has the EnderPearl. If the Enderman doesn't land a date, it keeps the pearl.
So when you kill an Enderman and it doesn't drop an EnderPearl, you'll know it died happy.
