Why is Minecraft so popular?

What makes a great game?

• Endless possiblities (not a story line)
  
• Multiplayer available
  
• Customizable characters (or profiles)
  
• Creativity (You can get creative throughout the game)
  
• Ratings (Minecraft doesn't really have that though)
  
• Good grafics (Minecraft's are a little basic but you can use texture packs to have different ones)
  
• Equally good for all ages
  

Many great games don't have one of the things listed above though it is rare for a popular game not to have two of them. Back to Minecraft, what makes it better (even though it doesn't have ratings), is that what it does have are limitless. You can customize your character to the last pixel, there is absolutely no story line throughout the game, multiplayer is extremely popular on Minecraft and you can even create your own servers, the entire game is purely up to you (creativity), the grafics are great and if you don't like them, you can make your own texture pack, and it's great for all ages.
So yes, Minecraft is EXTREMELY popular and easy to get addicted to.
